The 2014 NC Mountain State Fair is Back

The North Carolina Mountain State Fair is back y’all, and you know what that means.  DEEP FRIED EVERYTHING!!!

“Deep fried twinkies?”

“Deep fried Milky Ways and Snickers?”

Yep, those too.

“Deep fried frog legs?”

I will have to get back to you on that one, but nevertheless, the fair is back in full swing. So slap on your overalls, your straw hat, and your thickest country accent, and head on down to the Agricultural Center located at 1301 Fanning Bridge Rd, Fletcher, NC 28732. Remember to eat EVERYTHING, ride the scrambler (look to the left or right if you have to puke.  Straight ahead and you will be wearing your deep fried twinkie as a bowtie), and as always, “Sometimes the sheep just need pushed through the fence.”

Sea Lion Splash
The sea lions will amaze the crowd as they balance balls, shoot hoops, dance, perform handstands and show their pretty smiles. This is the only show in the U.S. to feature both California and South American sea lions. The idea of the Sea Lion Splash originated when Squalus started taking in beached sea lions who were unable to be returned to the wild due to age or injuries and unable to provide food for themselves. Squalus provides a permanent home for these sea lions for the rest of their lives.
Stilt Puppets
Welcome to the source of Legendary Animals. Let them inspire you with their silhouette and multicolored costumes. With elegance they move around above the ground, blowing a wind of imagination with their acrobatics. Each puppet has its very own unique personality and breathing life into these mythical creatures while balancing them on stilts requires extraordinary technical and dramatic abilities.
