Asheville Beer Week 2014: Mario Kart

It’s the last day of the 2014 Asheville Beer Week folks. We saved the best for last in terms of drinking games – trust us, you’ll love this one. What could be better then Asheville beer, an old school game system, and an iconic game? Nothing, my dear friends. Nothing

You Will Need: A nintendo 64, a copy of Mario Kart, and beer
Minimum Number of Players: 2-4 players (you can accommodate more players by having multiple systems set up at the same time)
How To Play: Select your course and characters on the screen. Grab a beer, open it, and have it sitting by your side or your feet. When the light on the screen turns green, you have two options to play:

1. Drink as much beer as you can
2. Get as far as first place in possible

In order for a player to win, they must have finished their beer before finishing their final lap in Mario Kart. However, you can not drink while driving. To drink you must pull your cart over to the side of the road on screen, drink your beer, and then pull back onto the course and resume driving. You can not be rolling while drinking, you must come to a complete stop first before beginning to chug your beer.

Whoever finishes their beer and makes it around the course first wins.

5th annual Beer City Festival

The perfect way to wrap-up ABW 2014 — a big community party!

Every year, the Asheville Brewers Alliance teams up with the good people behind September’s popular Brewgrass Festival. This outdoor beer fest is held in Downtown Asheville on Roger McGuire Green with dozens of breweries and plenty of live music. Partial proceeds from the festival go to local charities.

Catawba’s Post Festival Night Funk Jam!
