Asheville River Arts District September Second Saturday

Saturday, September 14, 2019 

On the Second Saturday of each month, the River Arts District holds gallery walks with demonstrations, workshops, live music, wine tastings, delicious food, and more! Meander the mile-long district or hop on and off the free trolley and discover all that the “RAD” has to offer. There are more than 220 artists in the 23 buildings throughout the district. Most of them will be on hand to describe or show you their techniques and share their inspirations.

Most studios and galleries open 10am – 6 pm. Special evening events listed.

Trolley Information: Park once and hop on and hop off the free trolley, sponsored by Explore Asheville, throughout the district from 11am–4:30pm. Free Parking is available at Riverview Station, Wedge Studios, and on Depot Street.

Curve Studios

Curve Studios, home to twelve working artists, is celebrating September Second Saturday with extended hours. This months’ featured artist is Angelique Tassistro. Angelique will be in the studio, demonstrating her unique glazing technique.

Angelique Tassistro makes work into play. Her belief in the magic of creativity, along with her childhood mispronunciation, turned imagination into “magic nation”. Angelique is a ceramic artist who focuses on functional pottery with a sculptural approach, always going to that magic nation for inspiration. Angelique’s pottery incorporates bright colors and unique patterns. Come see her new planters, cake plates, and bud vases.



Riverview Station/The Village Potters Clay Center

Raku Day with a limited number of spots available!
Fee: $150.00   ($135.00 for current ongoing students/register with your teacher)
Judi Harwood will lead potters in glazing and Raku firing their bisqued pots. Bring 3-5 pieces, pack a lunch and let the fun begin!!!



Sky + Ground Contemporary Art, with Peter Roux

We are celebrating the Asheville landscape, as Peter will be painting local oil sketches throughout the day and sharing his process with our visitors. Drop in any time to see what is in progress, and explore Peter’s wide variety of contemporary work. Also on view: glass works from Michael Hatch & seascape photography from Karen Philippi. Drinks & Snacks offered throughout the day in the gallery.
