Omni Hotels & Resorts will Provide a Family of Four Dinner for an Entire Week When Guests Book Direct on OmniHotels.com

Just as The Omni Grove Park Inn and Omni Hotels & Resorts say goodnight to hundreds of thousands of guests every year, they will now Say Goodnight to Hunger! For every stay now booked directly on OmniHotels.com, the company will make a donation to Feeding America® to provide a family of four dinner for an entire week.* Donations will benefit Feeding America and local members in the 42 communities where Omni Hotels & Resorts’ 60 properties are located, with MANNA FoodBank being the local recipient in Asheville for The Omni Grove Park Inn.

Through the program, Omni hopes to provide more than 18.2 million meals each year for food banks to feed kids, families and seniors in communities across the United States. Say Goodnight to Hunger is the largest campaign launched by a Feeding America hospitality partner.

“Say Goodnight to Hunger is a great opportunity for our resort to make a strong, positive impact on our community,” said Gary Froeba, managing director of The Omni Grove Park Inn. “Partnering with MANNA FoodBank, allows us to work with a true community leader in fighting hunger and to know that the proceeds of Say Goodnight to Hunger will reach those in our area who need it most.”

Omni’s contribution to this program is just one element of its commitment to feeding families and reducing hunger nationwide. Throughout the nation, Omni associates will generously give their talent, time, and compassion to volunteer at food banks in their local communities to amplify the impact of the Say Goodnight to Hunger mission. The Omni Grove Park Inn will kick off this partnership by holding their July Manager’s Meeting at the MANNA site to learn more about the remarkable impact this organization makes on the local community. The team will volunteer for the afternoon to pack and organize meals for distribution.

The Say Goodnight to Hunger program is a natural extension of what is already happening across the hotel brand and this will be another opportunity for MANNA and The Omni Grove Park Inn to work together. The Inn has supported MANNA previously with various functions including their infamous Blue Jean Ball. In 2013, MANNA Packs for Kids was even one of the original six recipients of the Annual Holiday Parking Partnership Funds.

To show support, guests are encouraged to use the hashtag #SayGoodnightToHunger. For more information, please visit omnihotels.com, call 1-800-The-Omni, or follow Omni at Facebook.com/OmniHotelsTwitter.com/OmniHotels, and Instagram.com/OmniHotels.

Applications now accepted for the largest gingerbread house competition in the country

The 22nd Annual National Gingerbread House Competition is about to kick off at The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. The largest of its kind in the country, the contest is expected to draw record-breaking crowds.

From small and large decorative castles to artistic landscapes adorned in icing and peppermint, each year brings new creativity amongst participants. This year’s competition commences on Monday, Nov. 17, with contestants traveling from near and far hoping for a chance to win the grand prize of more than $7,500 in cash and prizes. The intricate designs take hours, if not days and weeks, to create and are constructed entirely of edible materials, of which 75 percent must be gingerbread. The over-the-top gingerbread creations will be judged by an elite judging panel of world renowned pastry chefs, the curator from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the author of “Making Great Gingerbread Houses” and more.

Launched locally in 1992, the competition remains a beloved celebration at the historic inn. Open to the general public for six weeks from Nov. 19, 2014 – Jan.1, 2015, resort guests and visitors eagerly anticipate viewing the hundreds of intricate stunning holiday designs on display. As always, viewing the gingerbread masterpieces will be free of charge.

Applications for this year’s event are currently being accepted now through Nov. 7, 2014. To download an entry form, please visit HERE. For more information or to make reservations, guests can call 1-800-438-5800 or visit www.omnihotels.com/AshevilleGrovePark. In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, half of the parking proceeds, a $10 fee, will be donated to six local non-profit organizations – Eliada Foster Care, Asheville City Schools Foundation, American Legion Baseball Post #70, Homeward Bound, Council on Aging of Buncombe County and Children First/Communities in Schools. In 2013, The Omni Grove Park Inn was able to gift $64,000 to the local community.
