Hi-Wire Brewing announced today their January 2018 beer releases including Death Defying India Pale Ale, a Cherry Flanders Red ale, and 12-pack cans of two year-round flagships.

On Saturday, January 6 at 12pm from their South Slope Sour & Wild Ale facility, Hi-Wire Brewing will be releasing a Cherry Flanders Red (6.2% ABV) ale for $18 per bottle. With a total fermentation time just under 22 months, Cherry Flanders Red is packed with cherries at eighteen pounds per barrel, giving it huge notes of dark fruit, red berries, and balanced acidity. Typically for consumers with an acquired taste, this American version of a Belgian classic on cherries is perfect for anyone looking to expand and explore their “wild side.” This beer will see limited distribution beginning in February.

Kicking off the Seasonal Program in 2018 for Hi-Wire Brewing is the easy drinking and hoppy Death Defying India Pale Ale (6% ABV). Malted oats soften the satisfying bite of dank, piney, and tropical Eureka and El Dorado hops, creating the perfect beer to assist with your quest from winter to spring. Death Defying India Pale Ale will be available on draught and in six-packs throughout Hi-Wire Brewing’s entire distribution footprint, as well as both of Hi-Wire’s taproom the first week of January.

Lastly, Hi-Wire Brewing will be adding 12-pack cans to their year round line-up including Lo-Pitch Juicy IPA (4.9% ABV) and Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA (6.7% ABV). Adding volume and diversity to their packaging line-up will allow Hi-Wire Brewing to reach a broader customer base with two of their top selling beers. Both sets of 12-packs will be available the second week of January and will see distribution in Hi-Wire Brewing’s entire footprint.

Hi-Wire Brewing will be ringing in the holidays this season with the release of two beers from their Specialty and Sour & Wild Ale program.

The much anticipated and coveted 10W-40 Imperial Stout is back! For the second year in a row, Hi-Wire Brewing will be releasing 10W-40 Imperial Stout (8% ABV), brewed with coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. With notes of dark chocolate, fresh vanilla, and roasted coffee beans, this big decadent stout is full-bodied, sweet, and creamy with a smooth finish. From Asheville’s own French Broad Chocolates, the cocoa nibs are fresh and rounded out by milk sugar and Madagascar vanilla beans. Organic Dynamite Roasting Company coffee accentuates the cocoa and adds slight roast to balance out the vanilla in this dessert beer. 10W-40 will be available in 4-packs of 16 oz cans and will see limited distribution beginning December 22nd.

The second release from Hi-Wire Brewing will be a Wild Grape Ale (7.1% ABV) brewed with Malbec Grape Must from North East Georgia. Head Brewer, Luke Holgate notes “ the grapes were naturally pressed and fermented prior to being aged in red wine barrels on grape must from a Northeast Georgia vineyard.” This mature sour blonde ale exhibits aromatic notes of Malbec grapes, red berry, and oak with a light brett character. Big barnyard phenolics meld with the tart fruity character of the base beer to make a super unique Brett forward flavor and aroma. Already a favorite among Hi-Wire’s team of brewers, the Wild Grape Ale is a special release, as it’s only available in the company’s taprooms. Packaged in a 375ml hand cork and cage bottle format, this beer will be released Saturday, December 2nd at 12pm from their South Slope Sour & Wild Ale facility | 197 Hilliard Ave.

Hi-Wire Brewing will be releasing two wild ales from their speciality Sour & Wild Ale program Saturday, March 4th in conjunction with their first ever NC Small Batch Festival, featuring over 20 North Carolina craft breweries.

The two sours will include a Brett Pale Ale with Red Roselle Hibiscus (4.45%ABV) and a Dry-Hopped Brett Pale Ale (4.45%ABV). Each bottle will sell for $15 and be available starting at 1:00PM from the Big Top Production Facility at Taproom | 2 Huntsman Place, Asheville, NC.

About the Wild Ales

The Brett Pale Ale with Red Roselle Hibiscus was aged in French oak red wine barrels for over a year and bottle conditioned with saccharomyces and brettanomyces for two months. It tastes of berries, tannins and floral notes from the hibiscus and oak. This beer is sprightly with a smooth understated bitterness and super clean, dry finish.

The Dry-Hopped Brett Pale Ale was aged in French oak white wine barrels for over one year and bottle conditioned with saccharomyces and brettanomyces for two months. Dry-hopped with Hallertau Blanc and Citra, the citrusy and fruity hops accentuate the oak and white grape notes that result from the one year in white wine barrels. This beer finishes with a smooth, understanded bitterness.

Hi-Wire Brewing Announces Collaboration Mixed 12-pack with NOLA Brewing, Holy City Brewing, and Hardywood Park Craft Brewery
Hi-Wire Brewing is excited to announce the release of their first Collaboration 12-Pack with NOLA Brewing, Holy City Brewing, and Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. With long-time friendships and connections at each brewery, Hi-Wire is proud to share their craft with respected peers in the Southeast.

Consumers will be pleased with the unique styles available in the Hi-Wire Collaboration 12-pack. Hi-Wire Brewing’s co-owner, Chris Frosaker, notes “It’s been a while since we have been able to do any collab beers, so when we saw some openings at our production brewery, we wanted to go big. We invited NOLA, Hardywood, and Holy City because of the similarity between all of us. All four breweries are about the same size volume-wise, make very approachable year-round beers, and all have adventurous specialty programs. It was a blast making beer with three companies who approach the beer world in such a similar way as we do.”

NOLA Brewing, the former employer of Hi-Wire Brewing’s Brewery Manager, Ben Jutras, collaborated on a Pimm’s Berliner Weisse with Juniper Berries, Orange Peel & Cucumber (4.2% ABV). The inspiration behind the recipe is The Pimm’s Cup, a New Orleans favorite, which is a notoriously refreshing, cool, and light cocktail. Made to enjoy with friends on a spring evening, this beer will quench anyone’s thirst and have them anxiously awaiting a trip to the French Quarter.

Johnathan Parks, Head Specialty Brewer for Hi-Wire Brewing, is a previous colleague of Kevin Storm, brewer for Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. Together they decided to brew an Oatmeal Brown Ale with Honey & Black Currants (5% ABV), which is a dry and easy drinking beer that pours with a purple head. Hardywood is known for their darker beers and thought this recipe would compliment Hi-Wire’s best-selling Bed of Nails Brown Ale.

Holy City co-owner Jeff Moreadith is an Asheville resident, and good friend of the brewery. He has a similar passion for light and crisp beers, which lead Holy City Head Brewer Chris Brown to join up with Hi-Wire Head Brewer Luke Holgate to brew the Carolina Coastal Black Rye Lager (5.8% ABV). This delicious dark lager highlights Seashore Black Rye, a local malt grown outside of Charleston, SC, which was malted by Asheville’s own Riverbend Malt House.

Rounding out the 12-pack will be three of Hi-Wire’s flagship beers: Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA, Hi-Wire Lager, and Hi-Wire Gose. The Hi-Wire Brewing Collaboration 12-pack will be available the second week of February, and will hit Hi-Wire’s entire distribution footprint.

Hi-Wire Brewing will be releasing four beers in early January 2017 that span every section of their portfolio, including two new seasonals, a limited specialty beer, and a release from their Sour & Wild Ale program.

Kicking off the Lager Seasonal program for 2017, Enchanter Baltic Porter (8.5% ABV) will be replacing Twice As Nice Doppelbock the first week of January. Lagered for 8 weeks, this robust porter was created with historic traditions in mind. Brewed to withstand shipment across the North Sea, Baltic Porters have a long tradition of being big, chewy beers. The Enchanter draws from these roots by blending an abundance of dark malts with tannic dryness imparted by American White Oak.

For the second year in a row, Hi-Wire Brewing will be releasing Death Defying Spring Ale (6% ABV), but as a different style. In 2017, Death Defying is an Oatmeal Pale Ale that is easy drinking, hoppy, and smooth. Malted oats soften the satisfying bite of dank, piney, and tropical Eureka and El Dorado hops, creating the perfect beer to assist in your quest from winter to spring. Both Enchanter and Death Defying will see distribution throughout Hi-Wire’s entire footprint.

New from Hi-Wire this January is 10W-40 Imperial Stout, which is brewed with Coffee, Chocolate, and Vanilla (8% ABV). 10W-40 will be available in 4-packs of 16 oz cans and will see limited distribution beginning January 6th.

Lastly, Hi-Wire Brewing will be selling their first foeder beer from their Sour & Wild Ale program with a bottle release Saturday, January 14 at 12pm at their South Slope brewery | 197 Hilliard Ave. The Foeder Brett Saison (6.5% ABV) is a fruity tart saison with an earthy brett character. Fermented and aged in a foeder for seven months, this beer is effervescent and drinkable with notes of stone fruit & white grape before finishing bone dry. This beer will see limited distribution and will be available on shelves beginning January 16.

Hi-Wire Brewing is able to offer a wide range of balanced and approachable lagers and ales, but remain innovative and experimental in the ever-changing craft beer market. Their line-up of January beer releases is a reflection of this, and they are proud to provide beers for everyone, from novice craft beer drinkers, to seasoned vets.

Every Ending Has a New Beginning: Hi-Wire Brewing Announces New Flagship Line-Up for 2017

Hi-Wire Brewing will be releasing a new year-round flagship this January in place of their Prime-Time Session Pale Ale. Customers will now be able to enjoy Hi-Wire Brewing’s latest creation and year-round flagship, Lo-Pitch Juicy India Pale Ale (4.9% ABV), scheduled to hit shelves and both of Hi-Wire’s taprooms by early January 2017.

Hi-Wire Brewing’s decision to phase out Prime-Time Session Pale Ale was as strategic, as it was difficult. Co-owner, Chris Frosaker notes, “we decided to make the switch from Prime-Time Session Pale Ale to Lo-Pitch Juicy IPA to modernize our core-lineup. While Prime-Time is a very well made, delicious beer, Lo-Pitch has the big, juicy hop flavors and aroma that modern IPA
drinkers are looking for. Plus, at only 4.9% ABV, this is a great every-day option as your go-to beer.”

The Prime-Time Session Pale Ale will always have a place in the heart of the Hi-Wire Brewing team, but its production will be severely dwindled by the end of 2016. Moving forward, Prime-Time Session Pale will only be available on draft in Hi-Wire’s taprooms, and will see limited bottle distribution in mixed 12-packs.

Capitalizing on the next generation of explosive IPA drinkers, Hi-Wire Brewing feels confident Lo-Pitch Juicy IPA will have broad appeal. This thirst quenching, easy drinking IPA packs a bright citrus hop punch. Made with juicy American hops and a light malt bill, Lo-Pitch is the perfect pairing for sandy shores, mountain tops, or your bestie’s birthday party. Welcome Lo-Pitch Juicy IPA to the flagship family, because Hi-Wire Brewing does not see it going anywhere anytime soon.

Lo-Pitch Juicy IPA will be available in six-packs in Hi-Wire’s entire distribution footprint and available on draft in both taprooms starting in January. Join Hi-Wire as they celebrate the beginning of a new era, and say goodbye to an old friend.

Hi-Wire Brewing will officially be rolling out its Sour & Wild Ale program Saturday, November 19, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at their South Slope Speciality Brewery with a bottle release of its two first sours, including a Sour Blonde Ale and Wild Rye IPA.

Over the course of the past year, Hi-Wire’s South Slope Specialty Brewery has fully transitioned from brewing a wide variety of one-time-release ales and lagers to brewing exclusively sour and wild beers. After one year of experimenting with limited releases from their Single Barrel Series and one-off batches of wild-ales, Hi-Wire Brewing is excited to announce the official release of its first two sours that will be hitting all four of the states they distribute in on Monday, November 21.

The Sour Blonde Ale (7.65% ABV) was aged in American oak red wine barrels before being bottle conditioned. It displays aromas of citrus rind and hay from brettanomyces with faint berry, pineapple, and oak. This classic American-style sour exhibits notes of bright acidic stone and tropical fruit, subtle brett funk with a clean, dry finish. Bottles will be $17.

The Wild Rye IPA (6.75%) is a lively, tropical India Pale Ale blending rye spice, dank mango, and pine notes from American hops, with the rustic character of house brett. Aged for 6 months before being bottle conditioned, this wild ale has a medium body that finishes with a soft bitterness and lasting notes of tropical fruit & funk. Bottles will be $13.

In conjunction with the release of the Sour & Wild Ale program, Hi-Wire Brewing has launched the RingMaster V.I.P. Beer Club, a year-long limited membership program that provides exclusive sour and wild ale beer releases to members. Membership is $200 and includes the following:

  1. Receive five sour and wild ale releases per year, that are custom beers for RingMaster members. No other customers will have access to these beers. These special release beers are included with your VIP membership and there is no additional cost to get them. No shipping; all beers must be picked up from our South Slope Speciality Brewery (197 Hilliard Avenue).
  2. RingMaster members are entitled to a barrel tasting of in-progress sour beers with our brewers once during the year.
  3. 15% off all Hi-Wire Brewing merchandise purchases in either taproom with membership ID card.
