A Special Place For Rest and Healing Did you ever notice how we are drawn to the ocean? When we are there we breathe easier, we relax, and we rejuvenate our body and our mind . This is the essence of Salt Therapy. A visit to Asheville’s Therapeutic Salt Cave provides guests with 45 minutes of pure relaxation and rejuvenation, as all five of their senses are engaged by the healing power of nature. Being in the cave for 45 minutes is equivalent to being at the ocean for 4 days, without the pollution. Although manmade and constructed next to other downtown storefronts, the resembles the Polish salt mines from which it’s 20 tons of salt was extracted, deep beneath the earth’s surface. It is by far the purest salt available on Earth, uncontaminated by any toxins or pollutants. Experience Required?

The other day while at work, I struck up a conversation with the man next to me. We were both at McDonald’s letting our children wear themselves out. We were talking about his situation and he said that Asheville is a more expensive place to live than the plains of Texas, which is where he and his family moved from not to long ago. After chatting awhile longer, we realized that we both had something in common, we both are searching for a job in Asheville. He being an educated man, with a four year degree in journalism and I with my extensive years in childcare thought that we would land replacement jobs in no time. However, we both came to the realization that both of our lines of work had limited opportunities in the area. That leaves us with having to apply for jobs outside of our field. We quickly discovered that we are both at a disadvantage, as most job seekers are now days. Most if not all job postings will say, sometimes in capital letters, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Some go as far as to say, “Do not waste my time or yours by applying if you do not …

5 Awesome Places to Get Freelance Work Done

Asheville is a society of movers and shakers, which means that there is a large population of freelancers in the area. The awesome thing about being a freelancer is you are your own boss, you control your job and your destiny. The bad thing about freelancing is that is generally means lack of workspace. Working at home is cool, but when your entire house starts to feel like your office, it is time to mix things up. The last thing any freelancer needs is to constantly feel like you are in 'work' mode, especially in the confines of your own home. It's healthy to be able to separate home life from work life and work from a remote location.

Blue Sky Cafe Review

Blue Sky Cafe 3987 Hendersonville Rd Fletcher, NC 28732 We visited the Blue Sky Cafe on a Friday evening with high hopes as it came recommended by a friend who had heard nothing but praise. The full parking lot as we arrived seemed to confirm that this was a good choice for dinner. The cafe is obviously a refurbished fast food restaurant that had undergone a kitschy blue theme inside and out. The “mom and pops” decor had a sort of Bob Marley meets Cape Cod feel to it. The sign on the door stating take a menu and be seated added to the “this is a little different” feel of the experience. Once seated we were quickly greeted by our server and our drinks were promptly delivered. The menu fare of burgers and wraps with entrées of the same caliber were moderately priced. We ordered a plate of onion rings with chipotle sauce for an appetizer, one “black and blue” hamburger plate which was a blackened hamburger topped with blue cheese and one blackened chicken breast plate. For sides, we both chose a Caesar salad and with the chicken I requested their autumn couscous which I was informed was …

An Interview with STEREOSPREAD

We had a lovely chat with a local Asheville band, STEREOSPREAD. The band is comprised of James and Sarah, a couple local to Hazelwood, NC. Look for their upcoming local shows! Q:Why did you chose this particular genre of music? A: James’s background is in stuff like trip-hop, darkwave, and shoegaze, but he’s produced in all kinds of genres. We probably would have been a triphop band were it not for Sara’s pop sensibilities. Her vocals were influenced by rock and pop vocals (and jazz), so she gravitated towards pop structures and the sing-a-long chorus. So we ended up combining the atmospheric aspects of shoegaze and other darker electronic genres with pop songwriting. Most people consider us dreampop. Q:How long has the band been together? A: The band has been together about as long as we have been a couple. We met online (on Facebook) through a mutual production friend and we did a couple of collaborations long distance. Well, the attraction was not just musical, so James ended up moving to NC and we’ve been together ever since. Q:How did you come up with the name of your band – Stereospread? A: We decided to be “STEREOSPREAD” about three months after …
