APRIL 2019 SECOND SATURDAY in the RIVER ARTS DISTRICT

Saturday, April 13th 2019 On the Second Saturday of each month, the River Arts District will be holding gallery walks with live demonstrations, live music, wine tastings / spreads of food, and more! Meander the mile-long district and discover all there is that the “RAD” has to offer. There are more than 200 artists in the 23 buildings throughout the district. Most of them will be on hand to describe or show you their techniques as well as share with you what inspires them. Free trolley around the district: 11am-4:30pm Best time to swing over to your favorite studio, noon – 5pm. Most studios and galleries open 10 am – 6 pm. Saturday, April 13th 2019 Second Saturday Events: Curve Studios and Garden 9 Riverside Dr. 11 am – 5pm Join ceramic sculptor Cassie Butcher for coffee, treats and artist talk. Cassie will be discussing the concepts of her newest souls, why she calls them souls and answer questions. Jonas Gerard Art Destroyed At Asheville Airport

Within the span of 24 hours, four pieces of work created by the locally infamous Jonas Gerard has been destroyed. The pieces were displayed at the Asheville Airport. After the destruction of the first two pieces at an undetermined time yesterday, two more pieces were installed as replacements, where they were documented to have been vandalized at some point last night.
