Wakey! Wakey! Coming to Asheville May 1 2014

Indie Pop act Wakey!Wakey! will be departing on the second leg of his North American tour, starting on April 25th  in Vienna, VA at Jammin’ Java. Supporting him will be singer-songwriter Andy Suzuki and the Method.

Fresh off a successful first leg of his US tour with Jillette Johnson, Michael Grubbs, the frontman of Wakey!Wakey!, will head out back out down the Southeast of the United States to support his new releases, the “Irresistible EP” and the forthcoming full length “Salvation”. Fans across the country will have the opportunity to experience new material before “Salvation” is released, as well as hear their favorite songs from past albums.

One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn loved a Wakey!Wakey! set so much he tapped their sun-stroked “War Sweater” track for season 6’s finale and recruited Grubbs for a recurring role. That’d be the tale of a bartender/musician named, err, Grubbs—a strangely familiar life story hinted at in such standout Wakey!Wakey! songs as “Almost Everything,” “Twenty-Two,” and “Got It All Wrong.”

Since 2010’s full length debut, “Almost Everything I Wish I'd Said the Last Time I Saw You...”, Michael has been busy writing and creating new material. The fruits of his creative labors have been realized in two parts, the self released “Irresistible EP”, a five song EP released on January 28th, 2014, and his upcoming full-length album “Salvation”, which is to be released worldwide on ThirtyTigers Records.

Since September 18th, 2013, Michael has been collecting pledges to help fund the production of “Salvation” through crowdfunding site Pledgemusic.com, offering exclusive packages to donors, and reaching more than 141% of his original goal. In addition to helping fund his album, 10% of any money raised after the goal is reached will go to the American Diabetes Association. Though donations are now closed, preorders of the album are still available through the campaign. The pledge campaign can be found at the link below:

Town Mountain & Foghorn Stringband Perform at Isis on Fri 3/28 $12 Adv / $14 doors;  5PM Door / 9pm show; General Admission with Some Balcony Seating 828-575-2737 743 Haywood Road Asheville, NC 28806  www.isisasheville.com The sound of the award-winning group Town Mountain can best be described as traditional bluegrass, albeit with a rough-hewn side to it that is not too slick or glossy. They are a band of the here-and-now, yet they have a groove that is based on the bluesy and swinging sounds explored by the first generation of bluegrass pioneers of the last century. With the success of their latest album, Leave the Bottle, the word is out with some of their best reviews yet. “Thank god that Town Mountain are around to blow a hole in all the genre-juggling games of which music writers like myself are so fond,” said Devon Leger, of Ed Helms’ The Bluegrass Situation. “They play bluegrass. Period. They play it hard, they play it fast, and they play it like their fingers are bleeding and their picks are breaking.” “Phil Barker’s ‘Lawdog’ sounds like an unearthed classic, and the group’s tight harmonies alone make this record a treat for any bluegrass fan,” …
