Katuah Market Closing March 31st

Katuah Market first opened in Biltmore Village in February of 2013. Owner John Swann is a successful businessman, having worked at Earth Fare, and started Greenlife Grocery downtown Asheville, which became so successful it was eventually acquired by Whole Foods Market. Faithful friends and customers of Greenlife were excited to have another locally owned health store open in Asheville. Sadly, Katuah Market is slated to close March 31st, 2015. Sky Lanes Undergoing Serious Renovations

Sky Lanes, the popular bowling alley on Patton Avenue is undergoing some serious renovations. The alley was purchased by a group of local investors in February 2015, and the new owners are bringing some much needed updates to the 1963 bowling alley. We can't release too many details, but we are thrilled to share a few tidbits that we learned.

Fermentation Vessels Arrive at New Belgium Site

The construction at the New Belgium site in the River Arts District is coming along well. For those that have been following along, the first vessels arrived a few weeks ago. New Belgium has officially started hiring staff for their new location, and we've been seeing major changes happening along the French Broad River as the building keeps growing. This morning, the first fermentation vessels were transported from their laying spot in Candler, to the New Belgium site. Asheville Toastmasters Club #436 Conducts 2015 International Speech And Table Topics Contest March 5

Asheville Toastmasters Club #436 will conduct their 2015 International Speech and Table Topics Contest at their March 5 meeting. For the International Speech, contestants present a five- to seven- minute speech on any subject they choose. All districts must conduct this contest. The Table Topics Contest measures impromptu speaking skills; all contestants are assigned the same topic.

Returning to Fletcher Park just South of Asheville is the only 5k in our area where dogs aren’t just accepted, but actually on the V.I.M. (Very Important Mammal) section of the guest list! That’s right. The 6th Annual Run for the Paws 5k Run/1 Mile Walk and Wagging Wellness Fair is a competition in the name of good, clean sport and helping animals in need. As you and your very extended family enjoy live music, food, and family fun, you will be helping Asheville’s Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.
