Cold Weather and the Parkway

The parkway during cold weather brings many changes from ice to snow to just plain cold rain. Each of these changes is unique in the mountain range because each one brings a new perspective the wilderness. While the majority of the trees are bare for late fall and winter, there are still areas where different shades of green and yellow appear. One such area is the lookout near Highway 191 exit. A Cloudy Day

While the sun is great, driving the parkway on a cloudy day is very interesting because the clouds

of rain and clouds darkens the hues of greens, golds and reds this time of year. The air is cooler on a
cloudy day in fall setting the tone for a peaceful ride along the parkway. As always during the fall, the
leaves are beginning to drop to the ground softly and the ones remaining are starting to gain more color
as peak season slowly approaches the Asheville area of the parkway.
