Live@Aloft benefits St. Nicholas Project this Sunday in Downtown Asheville

Aloft Asheville Downtown Hotel will move its Live@Aloft indoors to the W xyz bar this Sunday, December 7, to celebrate their holiday Live@Aloft event at 51 Biltmore Avenue. From 4-7 p.m., guests will enjoy local artists 3 Cool Cats, known for their vintage rock and swing music. The event is open to the public.

The December Live@Aloft event will benefit area children through a special partnership between Aloft Asheville Downtown and Eblen Charities’ St. Nicholas Project. Patrons and guests are encouraged to bring a new toy, suitable for children ages infant through 18, to Aloft’s W xyz bar at its downtown location at 51 Biltmore Avenue. Each guest making a donation will receive a discount on their final tab in the lounge.

For those who don’t have time to go out and shop, Aloft is featuring a selection of toys in the lounge that can be purchased on-site, making gift donations convenient for guests. Aloft will continue their toy drive in the W xyz bar through December 19.

Each quarter, Aloft selects a community involvement project. Several of the hotel’s staff will be working directly with the St. Nicholas Project this holiday season by volunteering in their store and assisting visitors with their shopping at the Eblen Charities Westgate location. “On behalf of all our employees, we’re especially pleased to step up and make this holiday magical for area children,” said General Manager David McCartney. “We look forward to working with our patrons to donate lots of toys to children who need our support.”

The Aloft’s W xyz bar is open seven days a week, Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., and from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Thursday through Saturday, W xyz features local bands performing music from 8:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
W xyz bar serves handcrafted and traditional cocktails, wines, and a varied and seasonal beer selection, including microbrews and favorites from local breweries. A “bites menu,” featuring small plates, crisp flat breads and delectable sweets is also available.

David McCartney and the entire Aloft staff hope guests, area residents and especially downtown shoppers will find W xyz bar a relaxing way to end a busy day of holiday shopping. “Whether putting your feet up by our fire or having a hot toddy or local brew, the lounge provides a warm and special place to relax while shopping or celebrating all that downtown has to offer. The opportunity to make children’s dreams come true just adds to Aloft’s spirit this season.”
