Financial Planning 101: Free Online Classes in June

Asheville-based financial advisor Bray Creech, MBA, CPA, CFP®, with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. presents free “Financial Planning 101” online classes every Wednesday in June at 7:30pm EDT. Classes include: “College Planning Essentials” (Wed. June 10); “Principles for Successful Retirement Planning” (Wed. June 17); and “7 Habits of Financially Successful People” (Wed. June 24). Each class is conducted via the Zoom platform and lasts one hour. Participants may sign up for any and all classes that interest them. Registration is required.

Food Drive Yields 7000lbs of Food for ABCCM

ABCCM thanks Asheville Outlets for hosting the week long Food Drive from May 1 thru May 8th. A big thank you to the neighbors, friends, family and church family who donated 7,000 pounds of nonperishable food items to families in need. Close to 1,800 bags of groceries were delivered to ABCCM’s Hominy Valley Crisis Ministry where local volunteers will separate, organize, and palletize all that AMAZING food.

Sanctuary Brewing Company to Close Current Location, New Brewery to Open in Early June

 Sanctuary Brewing Company (SBC) will be closing the doors of its Hendersonville location in early June. Oklawaha Brewing Company, headed by Sanctuary Brewing Co-Owner and head brewer Joe Dinan will open in its place. “We think the transition will be a smooth one. We’ll be reopening with the same bar staff, the same great lineup of brews, and the same love for the Hendersonville community. We are super excited for the next phase, we’ll be making a few physical changes to the space and hope to hit the ground running once the Covid outbreak has passed. Until then we’ll continue to offer to-go and curbside pickup and will open back up for in house service as the local government allows.” Dinan said.

ABCCM Needs Support To Help Those Affected By Covid-19

The ongoing COVID-19 crisis is seriously affecting ABCCM’s ongoing efforts to provide food, medicine, healthcare and emergency assistance (rent, gas, and utilities) to the most vulnerable in Buncombe County. While the need for food and assistance has nearly doubled, volunteers have dropped off 70%. ABCCM is calling on the community for donations and volunteer service.
