RESONATE Festival Brings the Sound of Wellness to Downtown Asheville

Asheville is known worldwide for its unique musical expression, diverse array of the healing arts opportunities for spiritual reflection. Now in its third year, the RESONATE festival is set to elevate Asheville’s status as the source for all things sound, wellness and spirit. Held on October 1st and 2nd at the historic YMI Cultural Center, RESONATE will feature two days of workshops and concerts that inspire and empower. RESONATE explores the nexus of alternative healing modalities, the physics of sound healing, cymatics, neurobiofeedback, entrainment, and epigenetics. Further, the event provides a platform for professionals in the healing arts to tune up their toolbox and share their gifts with the community.

RESONATE’s featured headliner, Porangui will be performing “World Soul Music to Move You.” Reared among the three cultures of Brazil, Mexico and the U.S., Poranguí was steeped in various traditional forms of music, healing and ceremony since birth. Drawing from his cross-cultural background and ethnomusicology training at Duke University, Poranguí has over fifteen years of international work experience as an artist, musician, educator, filmmaker, consultant and therapist, utilizing the healing properties of sound and movement to foster our individual and collective well-being. He has performed for Agape International Spiritual Center, Chopra Institute, Lightning in a Bottle Festival, and played with Rising Appalachia, Nakho and Medicine for the People and more.

Also featured are critically-acclaimed musical artists known internationally for their unique sound and skill. Sound healers Paradiso and Rasamayi have 3 consecutive Best Album of the Year awards and have collaborated in projects and events with luminaries like Deepak Chopra, Dr. Masaru Emoto and Michael Bernard Beckwith. Playing the largest crystal didgeridoo in the world, Paradiso has performed at Carnegie Hall with his partner in life and in music, Rasamayi, known for her master-level skill playing alchemy crystal bowls. Together they weave spiritual soundscapes that carry listeners into profound meditation, where attendees repeatedly report unprecedented and transformative states of meditation.

In the “Ted Talks-inspired” portion of RESONATE, the workshops are designed to deepen our understanding of the relationship between sound, toning and wellness. As a revolutionary entrepreneur with a Doctorate in Audiology, Dr. Mickra Hamilton founded the Apeiron Center for Human Potential in Asheville to help others optimize their potential by addressing the physiological, emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic aspects of the human system. She provides expertise in functional fitness, functional nutrition, peak cognitive performance, stress management, subconscious reprogramming and multiple biofeedback modalities.

Dr. Mickra will be demonstrating the healing properties of sound through her workshop “Expanding Consciousness through Embodying Resonance.” Internationally known for decades of study and teachings of the Aramaic language, Asheville resident Dale Allen Hoffman serves as a guide, with toning and breath work, using his working knowledge of the Aramaic language, – before Hebrew or Greek influence, to deliver the core meanings of the ancient information included in subjects such as Yeshua and Mary Magdalene.

Local author, life coach and personal development guide Brian Piergrossi will lead a workshop entitled “Living from the Stillness Within” based on his book The Big Glow.” Additional workshops at Resonate include “Sounds of the Chakras” with Linda Go, “Healing Addiction with Sound” with Kennedy OneSelf, “Science of Mantra” with Matthew Duplessie, and “Intuitive Drumming” with Billy Zanski.

RESONATE also offers several special events prior to the event itself. On September 23rd-25th , Robert Malone of Sound Temple Studios will offer a 3-day certified program in “Intelligent Dance Music Production.” (7 CEUs) On September 29-30th, Connie Williams will offer a “Pranic Healing Level 1,” which is nationally certified for 14 CEUs. On Sept 2nd and 17th, in partnership with Balloons over Asheville, there will be a Hot Air Balloon Ride/Open-Eyed Meditation. A ticket to each of these events includes a ticket to RESONATE in the tuition fee.

In its endeavors to amplify the exploration of consciousness, RESONATE has formed a partnership with Art Studio World, a local non-profit dedicated to helping at-risk youth through a creative-holistic art integration approach to learning. Artists, teachers, and professionals provide the tools these young people need to be successful members of their communities. With support from sponsors, vendors, attendees and friends, RESONATE will positively affect thousands of people on an ongoing basis.
