Strength Summit Brings 3 Celebrity Coaches to Asheville October 2015

In October, the first ever Strength Summit, hosted by Strength Armory and Summit CrossFit, will make its debut in Asheville, and the creators of the summit are kicking things off in style. What exactly is Strength Summit? This elite strength event offers you the opportunity to train with and learn from three celebrity strength coaches over the course of two days. Learn effective lifting techniques during a private workout, and gain valuable knowledge at the hands-on workshop and seminar. You can gain key insights into elite nutrition, and learn how to lift heavy objects without breaking your back – and in this case, your bank as well.

Asheville is an athletic town. Between biking, hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and the myriad of other recreational workout opportunities that Western North Carolina has to offer, there are a lot of opportunities for the athletically inclined individuals to get the workout they crave. However, strength training (and strongman/strongwoman in particular) is underserved market here in the mountains.

The word strongman is actually a blanket term for an exhibitor of strength, also referred to as a strength athlete. There are a number of different classifications of strength training, including weightlifting and powerlifting. The term strongman currently describes someone who competes in strength athletics, such as World’s Strongest Man. Training for such a contest involves overall strength in the gym; everything from wrist, hand, and tendon strength to sheer overall body strength are required to successfully compete. Learning proper technique is crucial, as strongmen are regularly performing feats that could easily injure them for life. This is where the Strength Summit comes into play.

Meet The Trainers

Jesse Burdick is an Elite level, Reebok CrossFit Games sponsored power lifter in 3 weight classes with a best squat of 909 pounds, best bench of 601 pounds, and a best deadlift of 804 pounds. Jesse coaches a power lifting team, high school athletic teams, and works with individuals including professional, collegiate, and nationally competitive athletes, enabling them to reach formerly “unattainable” goals.

Julia Ladewski is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as well as a coach to athletes, women, men, powerlifters, CrossFitters, fitness enthusiasts, and recreational lifters. She was a Division I University strength & conditioning coach from 2002-09 at the University at Buffalo, and a Director of Sports Performance at Parisi Speed School in Indiana. Julia is also an Elitefts.com sponsored athlete and Q&A staff member and competes as an Elite level powerlifter in three different weight classes.

Scott Paltos is a former NFL fullback, is also considered one of the strongest CrossFitters in the world and has competed in powerlifting and strongman competitions in the past. Scott lives in Northern New Jersey where he owns and operates PUMP Strength & Performance in East Hanover. PUMP is not your every day run of the mill strength gym; the programming is completely done by him and emphasizes strength and performance. Scott is an MHP sponsored athlete, and also works with Brian Shaw – currently the World’s Strongest Man. His training log, along with a number of articles, can be found on powerrackstrength.com, ironman, muscle mag, and men’s fitness.
