Asheville River Arts District February Second Saturday February 12th, 2019

On the Second Saturday of each month, the River Arts District will be holding gallery walks with live demonstrations, live music, wine tastings / spreads of food, and more! Meander the mile-long district and discover all there is that the “RAD” has to offer. There are more than 200 artists in the 23 buildings throughout the district. Most of them will be on hand to describe or show you their techniques as well as share with you what inspires them.

Its Sunday morning. The ill-timed rain from the hours preceding have been swept away leaving the warehouse district shining like a psychedelic wonderland in the bright morning sun. It is 10:30, I’ve just rolled out of bed and still in my pajamas, but with camera in hand and ball cap set firmly on my bed-head, I’m ready to capture the magic and mastery of the third annual Burners and Barbecue. The artists had already been joyfully buzzing away at their work, taking advantage of the blue skies and sunshine. A cornucopia of color is being sprayed and spread on every available surface with expert precision.

Zelda Fitzgerald, “The First Flapper”, ushered in the roaring 20s. She was a force in one of America’s first power couples, living fast and flamboyantly. She bravely endured the stigmas of being a woman with a mental illness, and suffered for her art and creations. Sadly, Zelda died before her time in a horrible fire in Asheville.

Asheville Outdoor Center Hosts Sunset River Arts Festival to Benefit WNC Advocacy League

In the middle of April planning began for a series of events to be held at the Asheville Outdoor Center to benefit WNC Advocacy League. The owners and staff of Asheville Outdoor Center have a deep passion and appreciation for the local arts movement, and were hoping to find a way to celebrate and promote that. They just happened to reach out at the right moment to the founder of WNC Advocacy League who is equally passionate and motivated. Together they are bringing the area the First Annual Asheville Sunset Arts Festival to be held on June 20th, 2015, from 4pm to 10pm at the Asheville Outdoor Center, right on the river at 521 Amboy Rd. Asheville.
