Brown Bag Songwriting Competition Returns for an 8th Season

The Brown Bag Songwriting Competition is proud to announce the dates for it’s upcoming season of open-mic nights. Now in its 8th year, the Brown Bag will move to the Asheville Music Hall’s main room and kick-off the weekly songwriting and performance competition on Monday, September 8th, 2014 and continue each Monday following until November 17th, 2014. A Brown Bag Finals Showcase will take place on Sunday, November 23, 2014.

Crazy Tom Banana Pants Anniversary Party

Crazy Tom Banana Pants has over the past few months became one of my favorite local bands to see live. Our videographer, Wes introduced us to Caleb Hanks and his lively band of miscreants a while back when we recorded them for Asheville Sessions. I was hooked. From their catchy guitar licks, amazingly talented horn section, and absolutely fantastic Whitney Houston cover (plus a ton of groovy originals), they have left me more than pleased.

Quincy Mumford & the Reason Why are an independent rock/soul band based in Asbury Park NJ. Described as a mix between Alan Stone, Bob Schneider, G-Love and Paul Simon, Quincy has played over 500 shows and released four albums since 2008. QM&TRW released their fifth album Its Only Change, produced Ken Coomer (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo) and mixed in Philadelphia by Phil Nicolo (Dylan, Police, Urge Overkill) in July 2013.
