Jeff Thompson's Giving Trio returns to Asheville for a wild and enchanted evening at The Altamont Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 3. 

If you have seen these guys before, you know they don't just put on a show. It's more like gourmet food for the ears and eyes. Take a few cups of Thompson's stellar lyrics, four octave vocal range, dextrous guitar work, and theatrical stage presence, blend with Aaron Price's delectable vocal harmonies and virtuosic keyboard work, sprinkle in James Kylen's masterful drum and percussion work, and you've got a five star meal. 

Be prepared to be treated to an evening of not only some of the most catchy and sophisticated jazz/pop/soul in the region, but to a gorgeous and creative stage set. Thompson, three time winner of a "Best of WNC" award in the singer songwriter category, also has a history in performance poetry and professional theatre, and likes to "to think of the whole show as a piece of art, from beginning to end. All Go West 2014 has come and gone, and all that remains are the remnants of beer bottles scattered throughout West Asheville and the throbbing headaches of hungover enthusiasts the next day. All Go West never fails to please and this year was no exception - with an outstanding lineup including some stellar bands such as Soldiers Heart, Nest Egg, and Elephant Wrecking Ball, there was something for everyone. Asheville Sessions meets up with local singer/songwriter Michael McFarland for an acoustic set off of his new album, A Sarcastic Tango. Unleaded rhythmic alt-pop fuels singer/songwriter and two-wheel troubadour Michael McFarland’s engine. Garnering comparisons ranging from modern rock groups such as Matchbox 20 & The Fray to classic singer-songwriters such as Paul Simon & Elton John, the Asheville, NC based performer mixes an intensity with a sensitivity wrapped in effective contradictions. Astride his motorcycle, with a guitar strapped to his back – making references to quantum mechanics or science fiction – McFarland embraces and explores his wide spectrum of knowledge, interests, experiences, and hobbies in his music and writing.
