ABCCM Hosts Spring Fling Car Show at Asheville Outlets

Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry will host the first ABCCM Spring Fling Car Show on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Asheville Outlets. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The show will be held in the parking lot next to Field & Stream and is free to the public. The Spring Fling Car Show will feature antique, collectible, hot rod and special interest cars along with trucks and motorcycles.

Usborne Books to Benefit Asheville Nonprofit, the POP Project

An active online fundraiser seeks to raise $1,000 for local nonprofit the POP Project in order to be matched by $1,500 in children’s books from Usborne Books & More. These books will then be distributed for free to children in low-income Buncombe County communities.

RiverLink's RiverMusic continues Friday, June 12. to the River Arts District for its fourth big year! RiverLink has put together another exciting lineup of music, food and beer for 2015. Gates at the RiverLink Sculpture and Performance Plaza (144 Riverside Drive in the River Arts District) open at 5. The music starts at 5:30, with the second band at 6:45 and our headliner at 8:15.

Local Radio Station WPVM Experiences Hostile Takeover

Since 2003, 103.7 WPVM has been a commercial free, listener supported, volunteer based radio station. Known as the the progressive voice of the mountains, this registered non-profit was founded to provide independent media to the Asheville community. Formerly licensed to the Mountain Area Information Network (MAIN), the station was an integral part of MAIN’s alternative media vision to enable citizens to financially support non-corporate news, music, and public affairs programming. As of May 8th, 2015, an FCC transfer of the station was complete which means that WPVM is now operating as its own not-for-profit-entity.

Local Radio WCQS Announces New CEO

Western North Carolina Public Radio, 88.1 FM, has named their new CEO following the retirement of former president and CEO Jody Evans. David Feingold will be joining the public funded radio, stationed in Asheville, in July of this year. WCQS is a local nonprofit organization that has been operating in Asheville since 1979. The station currently broadcasts from studios on the campus of UNCA.

Asheville Humane Society To Benefit From Subaru’s “Share The Love” Event

Prestige Subaru selected Asheville Humane Society as the Hometown Charity for the "Share the Love" Event kicking off today and running through January 2, 2015. Subaru of America will donate $250 for each new car bought or leased, allowing the buyer to choose from participating charities during the event.
