The region's first West Elm Outlet Store, favorite brands Bath & Body Works and Clark's Outlet, and Bible Outlet will all be opening at the new Asheville Outlets. Almost 50 outlet stores have been announced so far as the much anticipated outlet center prepares for a May 1st opening. This morning, a few staffers from AshevilleBlog got a behind the scenes tour of the construction happening at Asheville Outlets. The outlets are set to open May 1st, and the amount of work being done on the property is amazing. A total of 75 stores will be housed at the outlets, with 55 of them ready to shop at during the grand opening. In addition to the bigger department type outlets, 10 retail merchandising units will be open - these are small, local businesses selling from kiosks.

Some people feel that Asheville is not ready for outlet stores, while others are waiting for the Spring 2015 opening with baited breath. We've got some neat insider footage of the construction happening at Asheville Outlets. The construction company sent a drone through the site to take footage of the progress. Specifically, they wanted to get some video of the beams that went up a couple of weeks ago. The beams will support what the company is calling galley roofs that will provide weather protection on each of the five concourses.

A staff writer and local photographer were able to get a behind the scenes look at what kind of fashion Asheville Outlets will be bringing to the area upon opening in 2015. Asheville Outlets, formerly the Biltmore Square Mall, is currently undergoing renovation and is slowly morphing into a destination shopping point. This will be the first outlet mall located in Asheville and are poised to provide a number of affordably priced stores, ranging from local vendors to national chains. With 325,000 square feet of shopping, there will be 75 stores offering a variety of product and affordability.

Today at 5 PM Cinebarre showed their last movie. Drinks were discounted 75% off, and the parking lot was full as locals packed into the theater, selling out every single showing available today. A mere week ago it was announced that Cinebarre would be closing down their Asheville location, currently in the Biltmore Square Mall/Asheville Outlets. The report was that it was not feasible for the theater to stay open during the renovation of the mall, and that they were considering re-opening in 2015 when construction was finished. It was mentioned that perhaps the theater would scout additional locations in Asheville to rebuild. Now, that all appears doubtful.

Many changes are coming about in Asheville, especially on Brevard road. Construction is well underway on the former Biltmore Square Mall as the Winter Construction company out of Atlanta has torn the roof off of the building and started demolishing the existing structures. The construction is making way for 75 new retail stores spanning 325,000 square feet of space. While all of this is happening, the anchor stores remain open and are reported to remain as a part of the mall during its transformation. Dillards Outlet, The Dollar Tree, Belk's, and Cinebarre are continuing to serve the Asheville community.

There was a celebrity spotted hanging around in the West Asheville/Enka/Candler area end of town the other day. This famous figure is well known for always having a pair of sticks in hand - but it appears he may be trading in his money makers for some knitting needles. Artemis Pyle, the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd was at Western North Carolina's largest yarn store yesterday, yarn in hand.
