Catawba Brewing Co. to Introduce Twisp, a Line of Southern Hard Seltzers

Twisp, an all-natural line of southern hard seltzers inspired by popular cocktails, is entering the market on Oct. 19. Asheville will be one of only four markets to get a first taste of its launch flavors: The Mule, The Paloma and The Spritzer. Manufactured by the parent company of local brewery, Catawba Brewing Co., Twisp is an entirely new brand.

Catawba Brewing to Celebrate 20th Anniversary, Week of Festivities on Tap

To mark its 20th anniversary, family-owned Catawba Brewing Co. will celebrate with Asheville for an entire week. The emerald-anniversary excitement will kick off on July 15 with a “Find Green, Get Green” gift card promotion where patrons will have the chance to win a $20 gift card during the week, or a $200 gift card on Saturday at the South Slope tasting room. Catawba will cap off the week on July 20 with an all-day party at its South Slope location, replete with four anniversary beer releases; onsite T-shirt printing; multiple bands; Blind Pig bites; Three Eggs Cakery of Asheville sweet treats, plus a celebration at the Biltmore Village tasting room.

Catawba Brewing 2018 Passport Program Starts Now

Catawba Brewing is now pouring a Small Batch Russian Imperial Stout (8.0 percent ABV) at all four Catawba tasting rooms. Brewed in their 10-barrel Charlotte brewhouse, this traditional strong black ale is full-bodied and rich in flavor, with a silky smooth finish. Four specialty brewing grains produce notes of bitter chocolate and dark roast coffee, balanced with a hint of malty sweetness. Catawba plans to roll out a barrel-aged version of this beer at year end.

Catawba Brewing Co. to purchase Palmetto Brewing Company of Charleston

Catawba Brewing Co. of Morganton, NC (Catawba) and Palmetto Brewing Company of Charleston SC (Palmetto) are excited to announce the two companies are being joined into a single entity. Catawba intends to finalize the purchase of Palmetto by the end of 2017 with the Pyatt family retaining 100% ownership.

Catawba Partners with Appalachian Trail Conservancy for Small Batch IPL Release

Catawba Brewing will release a Small Batch India Pale Lager (5.8% ABV) on Thursday, March 9, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Hiker Happy Hour (HHH) will be held at Catawba’s South Slope location from 5:30-7:30pm. Celebrate Spring with staff, volunteers, and members of ATC’s Southern Region (NC, TN, GA) at the last Asheville HHH of the season. ATC members who attend any Asheville HHH will be entered in the grand prize raffle for A.T. swag, including an ENO Hammock. New members joining on Thursday will be entered, too.

Catawba Releases Mardi Gras Wild IPA

 Catawba will release a special Barrel Aged Wild IPA (5.5 percent ABV) as part of their Mardi Gras celebration. This beer began its parade twelve months ago as a much tamer session IPA, before spending a year with Brettanomycees in oak barrels. After aging, the beer was dry-hopped, lending ripe tropical fruit and citrus peel flavors to the earthy farmhouse funk of a traditional wild ale, with an ever-so-subtle hint of bourbon.

Zombie Tube-Ocalypse Float Is Back for 2015

Braiiiinnnnssssss! And by that we mean rivers, beer, food and one giant fundraiser! Last year, following Portland, Oregon in the quest for the most interlinked tubers on the river, hundreds of people participated in the first ever Asheville Zombie Tube-Ocalypse! After a wildly successful first year turnout, the Tube-Ocalypse Zombie Float and World Record Attempt is back for a second year! This time it is a shorter float, in hotter weather and with colder beer! This year, the float will start at French Broad River Park and take out at The Salvage Station, located at 468 Riverside Dr. in Asheville, NC.
