peanut butter jelly time

Peanut Butter Jelly Time (5.7 percent ABV) makes its eagerly anticipated return on Friday, March 3. Catawba Brewing Releases Small Batch Belgian Tripel

catawba belgian tripel

Catawba’s Belgian Tripel was inspired by the strong golden ales brewed by the Trappist monks of Flanders and Wallonia. The style is the newest addition to the abbey ale trinity (Dubbel, Tripel, Quadruple), having first appeared at Westmalle Abbey in the 1930s. It was said to be Belgium’s response to the growing popularity of pale colored beers in Europe. However, unlike the prevailing light lagers of the time, the Belgian Tripel utilizes a unique yeast strain, and roughly three times the malt of a standard “Single” – hence the name. The result is a style that helped elevate Belgian beer to a pinnacle once reserved only for the best wines of France or Italy.

Catawba Brewing Releases Small Batch Blood Orange IPA

blood orange ipa

Blood Orange IPA (6.5% ABV) is the latest in Catawba’s new series of fruited hoppy beers, which began with last month’s popular Pineapple IPA. Ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavors marry perfectly with the aroma and flavor notes of fresh West Coast hops. Brewed with flaked wheat in the mash, this India Pale Ale features the soft mouthfeel and juicy character associated with New England IPAs. Citrus-forward hops were selected for both the whirlpool and dry-hopping, with a final addition of over 150 lbs of real blood orange puree. The result is a citrus bomb of an IPA light in body and incredibly drinkable at only 55 IBUs.

Catawba’s PB&J Returns March 3rd 2017

Catawba’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time certainly didn’t take the easy road to its near legendary status among craft beer enthusiasts. This hard-earned liquid lunch is the result of blue-collar brewing – hardhats and bootstraps. Aging beer on whole roasted local WNC peanuts presented a unique challenge in 2012, when Catawba brewed their first 3-barrel batch of PB&J. Five years later and now slated for 4-state distribution, this one-of-a-kind beer has inspired some innovative engineering and a proprietary brewing process.

Catawba Brewing Releases Small Batch Milk Stout

catawba brewing

Small Batch releases have become a weekly event at Catawba Brewing, but their new Small Batch Milk Stout is no ordinary beer. This traditional English-style sweet stout marks the return to the brewhouse of Co-Owner and former brewer, Billy Pyatt, who had taken off his brewing hat for the past five years to focus on Catawba’s rapidly expanding business. Assisting him in their Asheville South Slope brewery was brother-in-law Bobby Flowers, who chose the beer style and helped execute Billy’s recipe.
