Hi-Wire Brewing Announces Plans for Wilmington, NC Taproom

North Carolina’s Hi-Wire Brewing continues to expand despite the turmoil of the global COVID-19 pandemic with the announcement of a fifth taproom set to open in Wilmington, North Carolina in fall of 2020. Chris Frosaker, co-owner of the Asheville-based brewery, states, “Steady retail, as well as geographic growth, is central to our business plan, even during a pandemic.” With three North Carolina retail taprooms and a fourth in Tennessee, Hi-Wire Brewing’s total distribution footprint has swelled to eight states since opening in 2013, including the expansion to Virginia in April of this year.

Owen Park Kids Fishing Derby Offers Youth a Chance to Get Hooked on Fishing

Junior anglers enjoyed a favorable spring morning at Charles D. Owen Park testing out their fishing skills at the Kids Fishing Derby. Over 50 children participated in the event, organized by Buncombe County Recreation Services in partnership with the NC Wildlife Commission.

WNC Cheese Trail’s Second Annual Carolina Mountain Cheese Fest Tickets on Sale

Tickets for the WNC Cheese Trail’s second annual Carolina Mountain Cheese Fest are on sale starting today through the Festival website www.mountaincheesefest.com. Adult tickets (ages 12+) will remain at $12.00 and children under 12 are free. The fest will take place on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Highland Brewing Company in Asheville NC from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. This fun filled festival will include hands-on activities for kids and adults, panel discussions, workshops, vendors and cheesemakers. Tickets for additional beer and wine pairings are also on sale through the Festival website for an additional $10.00.

This will be the second show in AGA’s new gallery space at 82 Patton Avenue. The artists will present works that highlight their diverse styles as they each interpret their view of the natural world.
