In case you missed it, Geek Out 2014 was a great success and drew crowds of people from all over the Southeast. In case you aren't sure what Geek Out is, to sum it up: Geek Out is Western North Carolina's popular arts convention, celebrating film, art, costuming, comics, and animation here in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This year was my first year attending the local popular arts festival known as Geek Out. As someone who has always been deemed something of a nerd, I was delighted to be surrounded by my fellow geeks, although I have to say that a lot of people are way more dedicated to their craft than I am - and I salute you! Geek Out was a blast and I really enjoyed getting the two day pass to attend both days of the event. It was held at UNCA at the Sherrill Center, and featured panels, vendors, demonstrations, parades, contests, and even a wedding.

In addition to awesome happenings here in Asheville this weekend (GeekOut pop culture convention and All Go West music fest) you can also drop by the Ag Center and enjoy some PBR. Now I know what you are thinking- “I was drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon before it was cool," and you probably were, but I’m referring to Professional Bull Riding. Who doesn’t want to go out and watch someone get thrown around like a ragdoll while trying so stay on the back of animal the size of a mid-sized sedan?
