This Father’s Day weekend, the Better Dads Festival will create an active, soulful, inspirational, fun, and educational space for the Asheville community to explore and celebrate fatherhood. The event welcomes people of all ages. Live music, dance, games, costumes, drumming, storytelling, crafts, poetry, and a dress-your-dad photo booth will provide opportunities to play together. Community speakers and resource booths from Asheville’s diverse communities will invite festivalgoers to explore how men show up in their lives, the challenges they face, and new possibilities.

One of the area’s most beloved and authentic cultural traditions, Shindig on the Green presents the “BBQ & Bluegrass” annual fundraising concert, an evening of traditional bluegrass, Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the Rainbow Community Center Auditorium. The Folk Heritage Committee’s annual fundraiser features Roger Howell & Friends, The Midnight Plowboys and Rhiannon & The Relics. Beer City Festival Announced For May 28 2016

Beer City Festival returns to Roger McGuire Green in downtown Asheville, NC for its seventh annual event on Saturday, May 28th, 2016. The full-day event features beer tastings from members of Western North Carolina’s prestigious Asheville Brewers Alliance (ABA) plus music from regional bands (TBA). After the opening fest-focused weekend, the past few days have centered on many smaller tasting events and beer dinners, culminating in last night's Goose Island specialty beers tapping (2013 Lolita, 2014 Bourbon County Brand Barleywine, The Illinois) at Appalachian Vintner (745 S. Biltmore) and the Not So Big BIG Beer Fest at Thirsty Monk's future brewery location near Biltmore Village (92 Thompson St.), where that line-up even included the prized Westbrook Mexican Cake. Dates for Shingdig On The Green, Mountain Dance and Folk Festival Announced

The Folk Heritage Committee announces its summer 2015 dates for two celebrated mountain traditions in Asheville, North Carolina: the 49th season of Shindig on the Green and the 88th Annual Mountain Dance and Folk Festival. Each event features long-standing as well as the newest generation of traditional and mountain string bands, ballad singers, and big circle mountain dancers and cloggers, resulting in fun-filled and authentic evenings enjoyed by kith and kin of all ages.
