Top Things to Do in the USA in August: Student Events

If you’re looking to travel to the U.S. this month, good thing you’re already planning your trip. North America is large, widely spread, and full of attractive opportunities. If you don’t have a plan, there’s a high chance you’ll get lost among so many options. If you’re a poor student (*sigh* as we all are), there are many free events that you could attend. There are also plenty of student events available to the public, as well as exciting concerts and cool venues to visit. Check out our list of things to do in US this summer! Let the fun begin!

  1. Burning Man

Date: August 25th – September 2nd

The stories, the people, the experience at Burning Man cannot be put into words. If you want to remain speechless, pay a visit to this wonderful festival in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. Every year, more than 90,000 of people travel to this destination to live untold stories and hear unspoken human tales. People meeting here are full of beautiful vibes, listen to great music, and can cook amazing food. You can travel with your van (and sleep in it!), bring your tent along, or rent an Airbnb, although the latter might be the most expensive option.

  1. Elvis Week

Dates: August 9th – 17th

A celebratory event for Elvis Presley fans, the Elvis Week is an awesome way to celebrate great music, tasty food, and cool people coming along. Taking place at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, the legend is celebrated here, where new artists sing tributes to the King, people dance, have fun, have a blast, and rock and roll this city full of positive vibes!

You are only a few weeks away from the beginning of the school year, so take this time to relax and truly enjoy your activities. Choose them wisely, as there is not too much time left for fun! Most students don’t travel anywhere during the school year because of school duties as most of them don’t know that any good leading custom essay writing company is able to help them out with their assignments. If you are one of them, either take advantage of these last weeks, or contact various services to see if they can help you out.

  1. Iowa State Fair

Dates: August 8th – 18th

For eleven days a year, the Iowa State Fairgrounds is a cool fairground where fun people meet (yearly, around one million). The fair offers many opportunities to have a blast with your friends or family. The fair has a variety of tasty food choices intertwined with extraordinary music. There are also talent shows available to sign up for children/adolescents between 2 and 21. The Iowa State Fair Parade is another impressive activity to partake in! The shows are widely spread and worth attending, especially if you are from out-of-state.

  1. Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Dates: August 2nd – 11th

One of the best motorcycle rallies in the U.S. (500,000 attendees!), Sturgis is possibly the only place where you’ll ride as there were no rules. If you are looking for “clean” fun and cool people, here is the place to go to. Even though rallies are usually bad-crazy, Sturgis is another type of crazy – a decent-crazy! You’ll get to go to awesome concerts and if you choose to rent a room in town, you’ll be in the heart of the party. The bars and the vendors are unforgettable, no matter whether you’re a bike fan or not. The area surrounding the rally is also pretty great – P.S.: you should definitely pay a visit to Hill City.

  1. The U.S. Open Tennis Championship

Dates: August 27th – September 9th

If you are a sports fan, you should definitely go to the U.S. Open Tournament – it is one of the must-sees championships of the year. Here, the stakes are high, especially if one of the teams attending or home court players ends up closing in on a ‘Grand Slam’ at all events. Tickets are not very cheap, so you might want to look into that as soon as possible. This year, top athletes get together in New York to show the world how it’s done!

Conclusion

Being in the U.S. in the summer is an extraordinary reason to do some cool stuff, especially if you are a student full of energy and enthusiasm! There are many opportunities open for you, so make sure you take the time to choose some of the best; but whatever you don’t, don’t forget to be safe!
