TRI LOCAL at the Annual Asheville Triathlon

The Annual Asheville Triathlon is a local favorite, multi-sport event for the entire community to participate in on July 23rd at  Asheville Recreation Park, 65 Gashes Creek Road Asheville, NC 28805.  This is a popular fast & fun sprint triathlon to Asheville, NC for all levels and abilities of athletes! Athletes can choose to participate as individuals or part of a two or three person relay team.

The race consists of a beautiful outdoor pool swim in a 50-meter pool, rolling bike course and a flat and fast run course which is super event for every level of triathlete, from novice to elites. The pool swim is easy to navigate for new swimmers & the run is a flat, ‘easy’ course to navigate. Elite athletes – get ready for a PR! This race is fast and is a huge hit among local elites.

“I participated in my FIRST triathlon last year at your event.  Thank you for putting on this incredible event and helping my first tri experience be positive! It was an amazing morning and crossing that finish line was exhilarating!” -Kandi Newkirk

What’s New in 2017: Announcing TRI LOCAL! The Asheville Triathlon is part of the TRI LOCAL effort to encourage our local community to support and try a triathlon for the first time or to come back and participate in a triathlon again.  We believe supporting your local triathlon events builds a better swim, bike and run community and fuels the growth of all levels of athletes in our community. We have spent years putting on exceptional, memorable triathlon events. Now it is time for you to come out for the first time or come back;  a homecoming of some sorts, and relive the memories of your favorite local triathlon or try one in our community.  Support local, TRI LOCAL!

Course Information- The event will begin with a 400-meter outdoor swim in the Asheville Rec Park pool. After the 400-meter swim, participants will exit the pool and quickly enter the transition area to prep for the bike stage. The 11.6-mile bike course will feature some rolling and challenging hills and some flat roads, turning into rolling landscape before returning to the Rec Park for a very fast run. (The roads for this ride will be open to the public so all participants are urged to be alert to traffic). The run is an out and back style course and is one of the flattest 5k’s you will find in the area. Runners had better work on their running form, even if for no other reason than to look spectacular in race photos as they blaze through the finish line claiming new PRs!

“BE INSPIRED. DO SOMETHING GREAT!”

In the time that iDaph Events has been organizing run, cycling and multi-sport events in Western North Carolina, a footprint has been made, a reputation earned, and an identifiable mark left. But we will not simply settle for being at the forefront of the race scene. No, my friends, “good enough” just isn’t good enough for us as organizers, nor for you as participants. We hope you continue to BE INSPIRED and DO SOMETHING GREAT!
