French Broad River Garden Club Annual Plant Sale-April 27th

The following is a press release sent in by the French Broad River Garden Club announcing their 2019 Annual Plant Sale, happening at the end of April

The French Broad River Garden Club Foundation announces its 2019 Annual Plant Sale, held April 27 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  This springtime tradition is a popular event enjoyed by locals and visitors from our region. It is a good time to speak with the nursery growers of plants, shrubs, and trees so gather your questions and come join the fun.

Our “Speakers Event” at 11am will allow visitors to sit inside Clem’s Cabin and take a break from shopping, and be educated by one of the area’s most knowledgeable hands-on farmers.

This year’s speaker will be Annie Louise Perkinson, of Flying Cloud Farm. Annie Louise will be speaking about how to grow a “cutting garden.” She has had lots of experience with this, as her family farm in Fairview is well known by many.

Flying Cloud Farm grows vegetables, berries and, of course, flowers.  They use sustainable methods, without the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides.  All their produce and flowers are sold locally through their CSA (a 20 week subscription program), two local tailgate markets and at their roadside stand on the farm. The flowers are available at these outlets and by special order. They offer everything from pick your own through bulk flower buckets (they pick the flowers, and provide a mixture of focal flowers, accents and filler) to full floral design.

The Café will have food items for sale till 1:00, with live musical entertainment.

At the Plant Sale, you will also find landscape plants including conifers, annuals, perennials, herbs, and plants from members’ private gardens. Fine pottery, hand-forged iron, and birdbaths will also be available from over 15 hand-selected vendors. Proceeds support conservation and horticulture scholarships at schools within our region, as well as other projects within the US.

Clem’s Cabin is located in south Asheville, at 1000 Hendersonville Road, 28803. Visit www.fbrgcf.org.
