The vision of the Water Resources Department is to be the innovative leader in the water utility industry. Using the concept of continuous improvement, the department accepts the challenges of providing regional customers with water to enhance their quality of life, serving as stewards over the most vital of all natural resources, and empowering department employees to meet customer needs by providing the finest drinking water in the United States at competitive prices.

MISSION

It is the mission of the Water Resources Department to manage and protect community resources and to provide the highest quality of water service to customers. The department will do this in the following ways:

Continuous improvement in products, systems and processes to maximize customer satisfaction;
Continuous communication among and between staff, customers and governing board;
Continuous involvement with the community and region;
Valuing honesty, hard work, creativity, faith in each other, perseverance, and respect for diversity.

Sewer Services

MSD provides sewerage services to Asheville city residents along with other subdivisions within Buncombe County. City residents are billed for water and sewerage services together in one bill.

Recycling is is collected the same day of the week as garbage collection, except it is collected either on an A week or B week, depending on your neighbordhood. You can determine which week your recycling is collected by clicking on the schedules below, or by calling Curbside Management at (828) 252-2532. You may also use the below map to determine when your recycling collection day.

Landfill
To dispose of their refuse directly, Asheville redidents may take waste products to the Buncombe County Landfill or Transfer Station. For disposal information please call (828) 250-5460
