Career Fair Announced for January 17

Area residents will have many opportunities to advance their career at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce’s 12th Annual Homecoming Career Fair. The region’s largest annual career fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Davis Event Center at the WNC Agriculture Center in Fletcher.

Asheville Taxi Co. obtains “Uber Permit”


Asheville Taxi Co., a local car service, has obtained a permit from the State of North Carolina to operate as a Transportation Network Company, also known as a “Rideshare” like multinationals Uber and Lyft. Passengers looking for a ride hail drivers in their own private vehicles through a smartphone app on their Android or iPhone device, are taken to their destination, and pay by credit card linked to their accounts. No cash or credit card present is necessary and a receipt showing the trip details is automatically emailed to the passenger and driver. TNCs have quickly become popular alternatives to traditional taxis and for hire car services due to their convenience and efficient service.
