Carolina Ceili is a four piece band right here in Asheville. Comprised of guitarist Darlyne Cain, fiddler Laurie Fisher, drummer Maggie Anderson, and Marcos Harkness on mandolin this eclectic group of talented professional musicians brings Irish jigs and Scottish ballads to life.
A céili (Irish) or cèilidh (Scottish Gaelic), and prounounced ‘kay-lee’, is a traditional Gaelic social gathering, which usually involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing, and drinking. Carolina Ceili performs original written works as well as a myriad of Scottish and Irish music, all on traditional instruments. We had the pleasure of meeting up with the band at Hole Doughnuts on Haywood Road in West Asheville.
