Netflix Star Brings His Stand-up Comedy Show About Psychedelics to Asheville

Shane Mauss

Comedian Shane Mauss brings his unique stand-up comedy show about psychedelics to Asheville’s Funny Business at The Millroom on Saturday, May 21st at 8:00pm.

Shane Mauss has too many credits to name. Since winning HBO's Comedy Arts Festival "Best Stand up Comic" Award, he's gone on to be a favorite on Conan, Jimmy Kimmel, Comedy Central, Netflix, and Showtime. His latest album, 'My Big Break', debuted at #1 on the iTunes comedy chart and now he’s diving into a brand new hour about one of his admittedly controversial lifelong passions: psychedelics.

A self-described insane teenager, Shane seems to have done every drug he could get his hands on while constantly in trouble with the law. Since then, however, he's gone from barely getting a high school diploma to interviewing the top scientists in the world about the meaning of life on his hit podcast ‘Here We Are’ while headlining comedy clubs all over the world. Throughout all of this there appears to have been only one constant in Shane’s life: TRIPPING BALLS.

Take a journey down the rabbit hole for some deep, authentic laughs about mushrooms, LSD, DMT and more.  Shane will question our fickle perceptions, share personal experiences, explore the history of psychedelics and modern scientific research.  All with a lot of laughs and a whole lot of weird in one of the most unique and thought-provoking shows you will ever see.

NOTE: No prior drug experience is required to enjoy this show.  It will be entertaining and educational for all.

WARNING: This show is about PSYCHEDELICS!  It’s about learning about ourselves and looking at life differently.  If you are a fan of meth, heroin, or any other idiotic drug like that, this show will probably only make you feel worse about yourself than you likely already do.

FINALLY:  To answer your question, no!  Shane will not actually be on drugs during the actual performance, mostly because tripping at work is a waste of good drugs.  But regardless, we’re all going to have a good trip.

No Animals Were Harmed In The Making Of This Film: PlantPure Nation

PlantPure Nation

Many are going to go and see the movie PlantPure Nation because they already agree with what they expect it will say, and that is nothing new for films that could be fairly generalized as leftist documentaries. The main complaint this group faces is that it functions as a facet of the all too present mutual approval machine. PlantPure Nation, however, offers up a film that is more interesting than one might expect. Hopefully it draws some viewers who are curious about the changing face of food in America or even those who, by no fault of their own, haven’t given it much thought.
