Date– Saturday, October 22nd at 6:30 pm
Location- Guion Farm at Dupont State Forest, 3045 Sky Valley Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28739
About the Race– Runners will experience the beauty of DuPont Forest in a unique nighttime racing format. The only race of its kind in the region, participants will strap on headlamps and light up the night as they duke it out in the dusk. The twists and turns of DuPont’s famous trail system will dare them to push forward, not knowing what bogies and specters might lurk around each corner!
Headlamps are required for the event, and will be available for purchase online at time of registration. The One Mile Trick-or-Trail Fun Run will have Halloween theme, so it will be a great chance for kids and kids-at-heart alike to break in their costumes a day early!
Registration– The race is set to be capped at 300 participants, so interested runners are encouraged to secure their spots as soon as possible if they don’t want to miss out on the first edition of the event. Registration is now available here.
DuPont State Forest– Formerly a part of land holdings surrounding now discontinued industrial facilities of chemical giant DuPont, this 10,000 acre tract of natural beauty was purchased by the state of North Carolina in 1996-1997 with the help of national and regional environmental and conservation working groups. Large portions of the forest have been designated as ecologically significant areas, and therefore serve an important function in maintaining the environmental integrity of the Transylvania-Henderson County area, all the while providing an excellent venue for local and tourist sportsmen, equestrians, hikers, mountain bikers, and nature lovers of all sorts!
