Catawba Brewing Taps Two New Beers

On tap now at Catawba Brewing are two new barrel aged beers, the Imperial Stout and Brett Red Ale. You can grab a pint or flight at either of Catawba’s two Asheville locations, in Biltmore Village or the South Slope.

Imperial Stout– Aged 4 years in a Biltmore wine barrel. Aromatics dominated by chocolate/roasted and oak notes. Flavor is characterized by milk chocolate, oak character and a detectable heat from the high alcohol content. The body
is medium to medium high, lingering sweetness from unfermentable dextrine that balance the alcohol.

Brett Red Ale-  Aged 4 years in a Biltmore wine barrel. Aromatic notes of barnyard and oak with hints of vinous character. Flavor is characterized by a tartness leaning towards a tannic astringency from the barrel as well as the funky Brett characteristics and hints of aged wine. This beer has a low-medium body.
