It’s that time of the year again, and if you are like me, you are just itching to go sit around outside with close friends and watch a classic movie. Unfortunately this year with the Biltmore Square Mall undergoing renovations, **Cinebarre won’t be playing outdoor movies this summer. Lucky for you, we have found a couple of alternatives.
** UPDATE: Cinbarre just announced they got belated approval for their outdoor movie series, so the tradition lives! We list their lineup below, following Wedge.
The Orange Peel
Starting tonight June 2nd at 8pm, the Orange Peel will be showing “The Big Lebowski”. Tickets are $2 at the door. The rest of their Summer Movie Series goes something like this:
- June 2nd The Big Lebowski
- June 16th Back to the Future
- June 30th The Goonies
- August 16th The Breakfast Club
The Wedge Brewing
The Wedge started off their movie series May 31st with Raising Arizona (dang, it we missed it!) but will continue through the summer with the following films (Films start 15 minutes after sunset, weather permitting):
- June 14th The Big Lebowski
- July 12th Blood Simple
- July 19th Thunder Road-6th anniversary
- August 9th Fargo
- September 13th O’ Brother Where Art Thou?
- October 11th Miller’s Crossing
Cinbarre
Cinebarre is continuing their summer movie series into their third (fourth?) year, belatedly kicking off with Sixteen Candles. Admission is free, bring your own seating – films start at dusk. All movies are weather permitting.
- June 4th Sixteen Candles
- June 11th Gremlins
- June 18th Beverly Hills Cop
- June 25th Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
- July 2nd Jaws
- July 16th Back to the Future
- July 23rd The Godfather
- July 30th Labyrinth
- August 6th Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
You will need to provide your own seating for the movies, and don’t be afraid to be creative. Previously at the former Biltmore Square Mall I’ve seen people with air mattresses and La-Z-Boy recliners. I will see you at the movies this summer!
