Asheville Beer Week: Beer Blogger Choice Events Finale

After the opening fest-focused weekend, the past few days have centered on many smaller tasting events and beer dinners, culminating in last night's Goose Island specialty beers tapping (2013 Lolita, 2014 Bourbon County Brand Barleywine, The Illinois) at Appalachian Vintner (745 S. Biltmore) and the Not So Big BIG Beer Fest at Thirsty Monk's future brewery location near Biltmore Village (92 Thompson St.), where that line-up even included the prized Westbrook Mexican Cake. This July, Hi-Wire Brewing will open a 26,000 square foot production facility in Biltmore Village, Asheville, North Carolina. Now that the arrival of their new 30 barrel brewhouse is imminent, Hi-Wire Brewing is pleased to announce that their new facility is located in Biltmore Village, directly behind Appalachian Vintner at Two Huntsman Place. Previous to this announcement though, the one and a half year old brewery decided to remain tight-lipped about the exact location of their new building.

Katuah Market Closing March 31st

Katuah Market first opened in Biltmore Village in February of 2013. Owner John Swann is a successful businessman, having worked at Earth Fare, and started Greenlife Grocery downtown Asheville, which became so successful it was eventually acquired by Whole Foods Market. Faithful friends and customers of Greenlife were excited to have another locally owned health store open in Asheville. Sadly, Katuah Market is slated to close March 31st, 2015.
