On the Second Saturday of each month, the River Arts District will be holding gallery walks with live demonstrations, live music, wine tastings / spreads of food, and more! Meander the mile-long district and discover all there is that the “RAD” has to offer. There are more than 200 artists in the 23 buildings throughout the district. Most of them will be on hand to describe or show you their techniques as well as share with you what inspires them.

Free trolley around the district: 11am-4:30pm

Best time to swing over to your favorite studio, noon – 5pm. Most studios and galleries open 10 am – 6 pm.

Curve Studios and Garden 9 Riverside Dr.

11 am – 5pm

Join ceramic sculptor Cassie Butcher for coffee, treats and artist talk. Cassie will be discussing the concepts of her newest souls, why she calls them souls and answer questions. The artist talk will begin at 11:00am, but feel free to stop by all day to meet Cassie, see work in progress and finished works.

Studio A – Pink Dog Creative 344 Depot St. Suite 100

Join Andrea Kulish for Ukrainian Easter egg- pysanky- demos, wine and cookies

Warehouse Studios 170 Lyman street

Olga Dorenko will be demoing oil on canvas

5:30 – 7:30 pm

Opening reception for ‘828’ miniatures of the 828 area. Five local artists will create small 8” square images that focus on what’s special to them in our western NC area. These wonderful little jewels will also be for sale at affordable prices. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments served. Artists. Mark Bettis, Grant Penny, Jacqui Fehl, Tess Darling and David Sheldon

● Pastel demonstration by Elise Okrend accompanied by live piano music.

● Linda Panulo a wonderful mosaic artist will be demonstrating and exhibiting her art.

Odyssey Ceramic Art Studio 238 Clingman Ave

11 am – 5 pm

Live demonstrations of wheel thrown vessels decorating, carving and piercing porcelain.

Village Potters 191 Lyman St. #180

10 pm – 6 pm

Join The Village Potters and Michael Kline for this 1-day demonstration workshop. Michael will present a variety of throwing demos and surface design techniques. These include forms such as mugs, yunomis, plates, bowls, and pitchers. Some of the surface design demonstrations will include brushwork, wax resist, sanggam, and more.

● Tebbé Davis will be performing live Painting Demo of his “Fearless Imagination” series.

● Stroll in to Open Studio #213 for drawings, paintings and collage, small and large works.

April Showers…bring some Flowers! Be Gone Cold Winter! At NorthLight Studios we are celebrating April – a month of warm showers, Carolina blue skies and Spring Flowers. Our Studios are full of color. Come to see us the 2nd Saturday and view our interpretations of rainy days and flowers. We’re giving our visitors a packet of non-GMO Sunflower seeds. Take home some Sunshine!
