Asheville Tag Office Closing Doors Friday, June 27, 2014

Asheville will have one less license plate agency location as of Friday, June 27th when the contract ends.

David Sharpton has been running the location on Hendersonville Road for 20 years in Asheville, and is going into retirement and closing out his contract after establishing it in May of 1994. Currently, the NC Division of Motor Vehicles is reviewing applications for an operator at that location. Routinely, it can take about four months to establish a new agency.

In addition to the closure of the one here in Asheville, the tag office in Canton will also be closing the same day, under the same circumstances.

License Plate Agencies offer vehicle registration services, title transactions, license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations.

Until new agencies open, you can get your licensing needs met at the following locations:

• Asheville, 85 Tunnel Road, Suite 16B, (828) 252-8526
• Hendersonville, 145 Four Seasons Mall, (828) 692-0648
• Pisgah Forest, 69 New Hendersonville Hwy., Suite 8, (828) 883-3251
• Marshall, 133 S. Main St., Suite 102, (828) 649-3528
• Waynesville, 80 Waynesville Plaza, (828) 452-1577
