3.5 Meals Per Registration Donated to MANNA
Catawba Brewing Co. is pleased to announce its first-ever White Zombie 5k, which will take place on June 1 at 9 a.m. on the last day of Asheville Beer Week. During the 5k, participants may run or walk from Catawba’s South Slope tasting room through downtown Asheville to dodge zombies along the way in several “Outbreak Zones.” Racers who wish to dress in costume are encouraged to come as zombies or other Catawba characters (e.g., Farmer Ted, Evening Joe, HOPness Monster, etc.) to join in the festivities. Catawba will donate 3.5 meals per registration to MANNA FoodBank.
A beer token is included with registration for those zombies/racers who are 21 years and older. All runners will receive a custom ZOMBIE race bib. Dogs and Strollers are allowed but must start at the back of the pack.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female overall finishers, to the top male and female in the Masters Division (40+), and to the top male and female in the Grandmasters Division (50+).
“We love when organizations make it so easy – and entertaining – to support MANNA’s cause,” states Kara Irani, Director of Marketing & Communications, MANNA FoodBank. “The funds from the Zombie 5k will really make a life-saving difference to the people across WNC who will have a full plate because of the race participants!”
According to MANNA, 1 in 6 people and 1 in 4 children face a daily struggle with hunger in Western N.C.
“Our mission is comprised of six pillars and ‘give back and make our region a better place’ is one we hold near and dear to our hearts,” states Billy Pyatt, co-owner of Catawba Brewing Co. “As we hatched the plans for the 5k, we knew we wanted a mix of fun and philanthropy, and given our past partnerships with MANNA, we knew they’d be a perfect fit.”
