Service Dogs in Asheville

service dog

For over 18,800 years dogs have been an integral part of our society, whether it be for companionship or as part of a working team. Since the European Ice Age dogs have been used as herding animals, livestock guardians, home protection, and even transportation. In today’s world dogs fill one of two roles: companion or worker. Individuals that are hard of hearing, have seizure disorders, vision issues, diabetes, or even psychiatric issues can benefit from the offerings of a service dog.

Almost as much a tradition as the holidays themselves, donation drives are in full swing this time of year. We love being able to give back to the community and support a variety of causes that directly impact the people of Asheville and Western North Carolina. Being the animal lovers that we are, the staff here at AshevilleBlog decided to help spread some holiday cheer and support a great local nonprofit all at the same time. Our elves have placed 7 boxes around town at local pet friendly businesses. On Christmas Eve we will collect all donations from each business, and drop the bounty off to the dogs and cats waiting for a new home at Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. This way, our furred friends can share in the holiday joy with receiving their own presents on Christmas day!
