Isis Restaurant & Music Hall Rolls Out New Sushi Pop-Up

Every Wednesday, Chef Jeffrey Porter will fuse his creative Asian-Fusion background with local and regional ingredients to roll out Sushi on the West Side at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall.

“We are really excited to bring something new to our menu and to the community,” said Executive Chef Jeffrey Porter. “There is really nowhere in West Asheville to eat sushi, so it’s a great way to connect with our community and give them something special every week.”

Chef Porter, who joined Isis as the Executive Chef in 2018, has an extensive background in Asian cuisine and spent time studying under Iron Chef’s Masaharu Morimoto to fine tune his own artistic sushi style and technique.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have worked side-by-side with great chefs like Morimoto and to be able to take that knowledge and share it with our customers on special nights like these,” said Chef Porter.

The menu for Sushi on the West Side will rotate monthly with specialty rolls like Chef Porter’s signature Kappa Maki roll with beet infused rice, asparagus and butternut squash; a fan favorite like the Negimaki Roll with rare beef tenderloin, and a special California roll with fresh NC caught fresh Blue Crab.

Can’t decide on one roll? The Isis Boat is a succulent spread of each featured roll and a few select sushi and Asian-inspired bonus bites.

Chef Porter said that he hopes the evening will not only bring something unique to Isis and West Asheville, but give folks the opportunity to come out and taste fresh rolled sushi that is high-quality and affordable – not to mention, a great pair with Isis’ new sake menu.
