Music Video Asheville Tickets on Sale Now

MusicVideo Asheville (MVA), the annual showcase highlighting the pairing of Asheville musicians and filmmakers, is returning in 2015 to the Diane Wortham Theatre.

To celebrate the 8th Anniversary of Asheville’s favorite music event, the MVA crew is once again rolling out the red carpet…literally. Music Video Asheville strongly suggests “Grammy style” attire (with Asheville flair, of course). Pre-show mingling will take place in the lobby at 5 o’clock. The video showcase promptly starts at 8pm.

New this year, AMP (Asheville Music Professionals) will be hosting a Panel Discussion about music video production, distribution and resources. It is open to the public and will be happening in the main theatre from 6pm to 7pm. The panel will feature local songstress and filmmaker Caitlin Krisko of The Broadcast, filmmaker Daniel Judson who has produced many local videos including last year’s Judge’s Choice, Marley Carroll “Speed Reader” and Dr. Brian Adam Smith, whose recent doctoral thesis was written on the history of the music video.

Music Video Asheville, now coming into its 8th year, is an annual event that showcases the collaborations between filmmakers and local musicians. Past contestants have included Grammy winners Steep Canyon Rangers, Grammy nominees Secret Agent 23 Skidoo and American Idol winner Caleb Johnson.

The event is part film festival, part red carpet awards show and has become a staple of the Asheville music scene. Last year’s event was hailed by the press as having “hollywood style vibe” and being “wildly successful.” This year, the producers hope to exceed attendees expectations once again.

To apply for viewing at the event, area bands submit their music videos. A committee of local musicians directors, producers and venue owners then choose the best 90 minutes of videos are selected for a viewing and awards ceremony at Diana Wortham Theater in Downtown Asheville. The red carpet event is a celebration of the creative, unique and diverse music community that exists here in the heart of Western North Carolina.

About the Awards
1. Crowd Favorite Award – At the event, the audience will vote for their favorite video, and the winning artists will receive a $500 cash prize as well as a coveted MVA trophy.  MVA will also acknowledge a crowd favorite runner up this year.

2. Best of Music Video Asheville 2015- MVA is proud to be offering a the BEST OF MVA Award selected by a jury of film and music industry people. The winner will receive a day of free studio time at Echo Mountain Recording.<

3. Other awards to be given this year include Best Cinematography, Best Soundtrack and Best Editing and Best Costume Design and Best Visual Design.
