Reduced Adoption Fees Across WNC
This Saturday, August 20, is International Homeless Animals’ Day and Asheville Humane Society is hosting their first “No Pets Left Behind” adoption event with a goal of clearing WNC shelters. Regional shelter and rescue organizations were invited to participate by reducing their adoption fees, and Blue Ridge Humane Society, Foothills Humane Society, Macon County Animal Services, Madison County Animal Services and Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation joined the effort. (Adoption fee discounts vary at each location – please refer to each organization’s website for details, address, hours, etc.) Asheville Humane Society is offering fee-waived adoptions for all pets in their Adoption Center at 14 Forever Friend Lane.
Adam Cotton, Manager of Community Alliances at Asheville Humane Society, is hoping this adoption event will help save the lives of animals throughout WNC. “Some may not know this, but our WNC shelters and rescues regularly work together to save the lives of homeless pets,” he said. “It only seemed natural for all of us to collaborate on this event and try to find forever homes for as many WNC shelter pets as possible!” He added, “We look forward to this team effort and hope to expand the list of shelters/rescues who participate next year.”
Each summer, shelters become overcrowded with homeless animals. If this event is successful, these organizations can make room for more pets who are coming through their doors and waiting in foster care. Give these pets a second chance on International Homeless Animals’ Day. Adopt from one of your local shelters this Saturday so there are no pets left behind!
