75th Annual Asheville Holiday Parade Saturday, November 20

The Asheville Holiday Parade, presented by Bojangles of WNC, rolls, dances and marches through downtown Asheville on Saturday, November 20 beginning at 11am. The parade features more than 100 entries including marching bands, dance and cheer squads, youth sports, nonprofits and businesses. This year’s parade theme is “Celebrating 75 Years of Memories and Magic.”

Asheville Holiday Parade 2020 Cancelled

The Asheville Downtown Association today announced that the Asheville Holiday Parade is canceled for 2020 due to public health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to cancel the parade was based on North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s September 30th announcement moving North Carolina into Phase 3. Phase 3 continues to limit outdoor gatherings to 50 people and provides capacity limits for outdoor spaces. The uncertainty of COVID-19 conditions and public safety protocols in effect at the time of the parade drove the decision.

New Belgium’s Asheville Brewery Opens for Public Tastings May 2

On Monday, May 2, beer fans can kick back along the French Broad River in Asheville and sip a Fat Tire Amber Ale in New Belgium’s sparkling new “Liquid Center” tasting room. The doors swing open at 21 Craven Street, Asheville, NC and the public will be able to taste New Belgium beers for the first time at the brewery’s new location. Tasting room hours are Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday noon to 8:00 p.m. Public brewery tours will start this summer.

Carolina Jews for Justice/West will sponsor a program, “Clean Energy Asheville: A Report from Mayor Manheimer.” on Sunday, March 13th from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Dave Hall at Congregation Beth HaTephila Congregation, 43 North Liberty Street in Asheville. The purpose of the meeting is to update the community on the collaborative partnership between the City of Asheville, Buncombe County and Duke Energy on building a 21st Century electric energy infrastructure in our community. In addition to Mayor Manheimer, panelists will include Councilwoman Julie Mayfield, and a Robert Sipes, General Manager of Duke Energy’s Western Region.
