Brother Wolf Adoption Center To Remain Open

ROTHER WOLF EMBRACES ITS ROOTS:  ADOPTION CENTER TO REMAIN OPEN

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue has been under the leadership of its new Executive Director, Leah Craig Fieser, since its Founder, Denise Bitz, resigned in early February. Though Fieser has been with the organization for less than a month, she has been part of the Asheville nonprofit community since 2013 and previously worked with Brother Wolf in a different position.

The hub of the organization’s activity, the Adoption Center on Glendale Avenue in Asheville, was previously for sale but has now been taken off the market. Fieser confirms that there are no plans to sell the property. “Our Adoption Center is open and very active,” she says. “Maintaining this location is the best way we can serve the animals who need us. I encourage our community members to visit us, meet the animals, and get involved in our No-Kill mission.”

In addition to their adoption program, Brother Wolf cares for animals through their thriving foster and volunteer networks, pet retention and community cat programs, and a mobile spay/neuter clinic. Fieser anticipates that Brother Wolf will positively impact the lives of approximately 10,000 animals in 2019. This is up from 6,000 animals served in 2018, due to the impact that the organization’s new mobile spay/neuter clinic is having on animals in the area.

“I’m excited to step into this role at Brother Wolf and be an integral part of the impact that this organization has for animals in our community,” said Fieser. “This year we’ll be focusing on embracing our roots of companion animal rescue and our core mission of building No-Kill communities. Brother Wolf is a place where all are welcome. Without our donors, volunteers, and fosters, this life-saving work would not be possible. I am committed to transparency as Brother Wolf moves forward and will keep our community involved and up-to-date.”

To best understand the entirety of the organization, Fieser will be meeting with Brother Wolf’s board of directors, management team, staff members, donors, volunteers and supporters, participating in the day-to-day work at their busy Adoption Center, reviewing financial information, and looking over the status of current projects.

About Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, located in Asheville, NC, was founded in 2007 to provide the resources and life-saving programs to build a No-Kill community. As a grassroots organization, Brother Wolf believes strongly in community engagement and making it easy to adopt, volunteer and become involved in its No-Kill mission. BWAR’s No Kill Community Development Initiative is currently working with five chapters to implement life-saving programs and build their own No-Kill communities. Celebrating 10 years, Brother Wolf will break ground in 2017 at its sanctuary location 25 minutes from Asheville. The sanctuary will be a place for people and animals to heal, as well as focus on working towards the vision of uncompromised compassion for all animals.
