Jeff Thompson Trio Hits Altamonte Theatre Sept 3rd

jeff thompson trio

Jeff Thompson's Giving Trio returns to Asheville for a wild and enchanted evening at The Altamont Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 3.

If you have seen these guys before, you know they don't just put on a show. It's more like gourmet food for the ears and eyes. Take a few cups of Thompson's stellar lyrics, four octave vocal range, dextrous guitar work, and theatrical stage presence, blend with Aaron Price's delectable vocal harmonies and virtuosic keyboard work, sprinkle in James Kylen's masterful drum and percussion work, and you've got a five star meal.

Be prepared to be treated to an evening of not only some of the most catchy and sophisticated jazz/pop/soul in the region, but to a gorgeous and creative stage set. Thompson, three time winner of a "Best of WNC" award in the singer songwriter category, also has a history in performance poetry and professional theatre, and likes to "to think of the whole show as a piece of art, from beginning to end. No wasted moments." (Performing Songwriter Magazine)

Special guests will be joining the core trio on stage, as per usual. Expect some of the area's finest musicians, poets, and other creatives to join them onstage. Nothing is unimaginable with this band.

Erica Russo To Release Third Full Length Album

erica russo

Asheville-based indie-folk artist Erica Russo will celebrate the release of her third, full-length album, Honey, on August 20, 2016 at the Mothlight in West Asheville. The record is being released on the new Asheville-based record label and arts collective Eternal Mind Records. The dreamy 11-track album was self-recorded and self-produced in Russo’s practice studio in Asheville’s River Arts District as well as in a remote cabin in Alexander, NC. Russo’s newest work represents a hauntingly melodic sound that combines her singularly dreamy style of folk with grittier, indie-pop sensibilities. The singer-songwriter, along with her band, will tour the U.S. extensively this August, and Russo will embark on a European solo tour this fall in support of the new record.
