FOOD CHOICES To Make North Carolina Debut at Sanctuary Brewing Company

Food Choices – The New Documentary the Food Industry Doesn’t Want You to See to premiere at Sanctuary Brewing Company on June 15th.  The evening will begin with a meet and greet, followed by the screening, and ending with a Q&A with local experts on food, health, agriculture and environmental issues.

FOOD CHOICES is the ground breaking new documentary. The film features experts such as Dr. T Colin Campbell, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Pam Popper, Joe Cross, Melanie Joy, Capt Paul Watson (Sea Shepherd) Laura Theodore and many others! Food Choices explores the impact that food has on people’s health on the health of the planet and on the lives of other living species and also discusses several misconceptions about food, diet and supplements. About the Hosts & Panel:

Laura Theodore

Laura Theodore, who is featured in the film, is a 2015 TASTE award-winning, recognized public television personality, recording artist, cookbook author, and vegan chef. Laura is the on-camera host of the highly successful, award-winning, Jazzy Vegetarian vegan cooking series on public television, and she hosts the popular plant-based podcast radio show, Jazzy Vegetarian Radio. Ms. Theodore is author of three vegan cookbooks including: Laura Theodore’s Vegan-Ease, Jazzy Vegetarian Classics, and Jazzy Vegetarian. Laura is featured in the new, groundbreaking documentary film, Food Choices, and she was recently featured on The Talk on CBS, Insider/Entertainment Tonight (HBO Red Carpet), News 4-NBC, Fox News 8, The Better Show and the WCBS Health & Wellbeing Report. Ms. Theodore writes for Mother Earth Living and she has been featured in the New York Times, New York Daily News, VegNews, Family Circle, Readers Digest, PBS Food, Naked Food and Healthy Aging, among other highly respected news, food and lifestyle-related journals. Laura’s popular PBS show, Jazzy Vegetarian, was recently awarded a 2015 TASTE Award for Best Health and Fitness Program (Food and Diet), and in September 2015, Laura Theodore / Jazzy Vegetarian was inducted into the 2015 TASTE Hall of Fame.

Lisa McDonald

Lisa is the Co-Owner of Sanctuary Brewing Company.  Before opening Sanctuary Brewing Company in August of 2015, Lisa spent 20 years managing multimillion dollar projects for Fortune 50 companies as a business consulting manager.  As the driving force behind Sanctuary’s animal advocacy, Lisa has adopted, fostered, rescued and helped find homes for over 100 animals in the last four years.  She is also an outspoken vegan and cooks free meals for the public every Saturday at the Sanctuary tap room.

Dianne Prescott

Dianne T.W. Prescott: Founder of Asheville/American Voice for Animals.  Life long animal advocate and proponent of a compassionate diet and lifestyle. As a career Psychotherapist Dianne has worked with thousands of patients to heal and become productive citizens. A plant based diet has been fundamental in the physical and mental health healing of her clients. Dianne feels a compassionate form of Vegan eating changes the world with each individual who embraces a cultural change from eating death and dying, to eating the essentials of what grows from our life sustaining earth.

Lafayette Prescott

Lafayette Prescott: Co-founder Asheville /American Voice for Animals.  Lafayette has been involved in changing the lives of animals since becoming Vegetarian 30 years ago. Lafayette studied Zen Buddhism in the Sanbo Kyodan temple in Kamakura Japan. Accepting what the Buddha taught about compassion for all sentient beings. He has worked closely with Dianne in  animal rescue in England, Japan, Texas, South Carolina and currently working diligently to liberate animals in North Carolina.Lafayette and Dianne have worked, banning traveling exotic circus animals acts, eliminating the cruelty of Horse drawn carriages and liberating Farm animals from suffering as well as cruel treatments. Lafayette believes a compassionate plant based vegan diet is the core of eliminating suffering for all sentient beings. 

Sadrah Schadel

Sadrah Schadel. As a lifelong vegetarian, Sadrah has some serious veg cred. Fueled by the fury of one too many veggie burgers with all the personality of cardboard, and many an evening dining on a conglomeration of side-dishes passed off as an ‘entree’ on restaurant menus, she decided to make it her mission to create plant-based proteins that truly inspire. Sadrah commands the test kitchen, makes the magic, shares the vision & is the voice of NEF. 

Mike Wolliansky

Mike Wolliansky, co-founder of No Evil Foods. To tell Mike he can’t do something is one sure way to make sure he does it. His plant-based journey began as a simple experiment – the result of which became not only a passion but an opportunity to promote positive change. Not one to be led by the masses, his unique insight strikes a chord every time. Motivated by challenge, Mike is the wizard behind the curtain; he sketches the big picture, keeps the peace, engineers the details and has a really good scream.

Sanctuary Brewing Company, located in the heart of downtown Hendersonville, is known for it’s amazing craft beers and unabashed dedication to animal rights. Each night, the brewery serves up a rotating list of sixteen handcrafted beers of all styles and imaginings.

Sanctuary Brewing Company opened in August 2015 in beautiful downtown Hendersonville, NC. The brewery is known for its amazing craft beers and unabashed dedication to animal and human advocacy. Since opening, the bar has raised thousands of dollars for animals and humans alike. They host a monthly community event that provides haircuts, resume building, a hot meal and a clothing drive to those in need in the community. Owners Lisa and Joe also opened their own non-profit animal sanctuary, Sweet Bear Rescue Farm, in October of 2017.
