Announcing: Best of Asheville Comedy Showcase and Sick of Stupid Comedy Tour
On Saturday, January 9th Funny Business at the Millroom will present 10 of the top Asheville Comedians. Friday, January 22nd will feature the Sick of Stupid Comedy Tour with Cliff Cash, Tom Simmons, and Stewart Huff.
Best of Asheville Comedy Showcase
Come see the most popular standup comedians in Asheville perform together in one outstanding show! An annual favorite, the Best of Asheville Comedy Showcase sold out last year, so buying tickets in advance is highly recommendend.
Featuring Petey Smith-McDowell, Tom Peters, Minori Hinds, Cody Hughes, Jason Webb, Grayson Morris, Tom Scheve, Cary Goff, Gabe Rosenberg, Macon Clark, and host Chase McNeill.
Ten comics, $10, lots of laughs.
Sick of Stupid Comedy Tour
Standup Comics Tom Simmons, Steward Huff, and Clifton Cash have joined forces and are touring six Southern cities as the Sick of Stupid Comedy Tour. Sick of Stupid promises to give audiences an intelligent, comedic look at all things Southern.
With a growing perception of the South as populated exclusively by camo-wearing, gay-hating, Confederate-flag waving, fanatical white people, Sick of Stupid will become the voice of intellectual Southern comedy and become the voice of the new South.
“Some Southerners love Duck Dynasty and Honey Boo Boo and lowering the rear end of their pickup truck. We probably aren’t the voice for them, but we hope we can be the voice for the Southerners who find all this stuff absurd,” said Cliff Cash.
Duck Dynasty, Larry the Cable Guy, and Jeff Foxworthy have their place, but we want to give a voice to smart, progressive Southerners and provide a fresh take on life—politics, culture, and the past, present, and future—in the South as we live it,” said Clifton Cash.
As part of the tour, Tom, Stewart, and Cliff will record their sets as well as on- and off-stage antics and plan to release a 90-minute comedy special. In addition, they will use footage of performances, man-on-the-street interviews, and Q&As with audience members to produce a documentary about comedy’s response and responsibility to social and cultural issues in the South.
