Wicked Weed Announces Sour Festival Brewery Lineup

Eblen Charities and Wicked Weed Brewing are gearing up for the third annual sour festival scheduled for Saturday, July 16^th. The Funkatorium Invitational (formerly Funk Asheville) will host 50+ breweries both well established and up and coming that are paving the sour and wild path for craft beer. Ticket sales are slated for Monday, May 9^th beginning at noon via ETIX.

“We believe strongly in this craft and the cause it supports,” states Head Blender, Walt Dickinson. “We want to be a voice moving the conversation about sour beer forward in the industry. Our goal is to bring in breweries who are dedicated to the craft of sour beer from all across the country into our own back yard to showcase the full potential of American barrel-aged sour and wild ales.”

General admission tickets are $80 (plus service fees and NC tax) and VIP tickets are $100 (plus service fees and NC tax). The Funkatorium Invitational will commence at 8pm (with an 7pm entry for VIP) and end at 11pm in the wooded outdoor space at Wicked Weed’s production brewery in Candler with shuttles available for guests to and from the festival. Guests can expect live music, local food trucks, and over 125 sour and wild offerings.

As a thank you to their hometown, the brewery will again offer 100 local VIP tickets at General Admission price. VIP Local tickets will go on sale May 2^nd -6^th and can be purchased in person at the Funkatorium (147 Coxe Ave) during business hours. Locals will need identification with an Asheville address and/or mail with proof of address.

“Without the embrace we felt early on from our community we wouldn’t have a sour program,” explained Dickinson. “It was the people who would show up every Friday at three o’clock waiting for us to tap Black Angel when we only had four barrels of it who drove Wicked Weed sour beer and proved that it was viable. This is a small way we can thank them.”

All of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Eblen Charities. Eblen is a local Asheville charity that provides needs within the community for the underprivileged population.   Eblen directly helps the community of Asheville by providing assistance with medical needs, education, energy needs, emergency assistance, housing and more.
