Chicago-based singer-songwriter Angela James released her debut LP, Way Down Deep, on Tuesday, October 21. You can preview her music by visiting bandcamp: https://angelajames.bandcamp.com/album/way-down-deep
The album captures ten tracks of progressive Americana inspired by classic country artists Patsy Cline and Rosanne Cash with the narrative sensibility of more modern female troubadours Neko Case and Cat Power.
Way Down Deep was co-produced by James and longtime collaborator and husband Jordan Martins with contributions from Charles Rumback and Nick Broste. The album also employs some of Chicago’s finest jazz improv players, incorporating them into a bold sonic tapestry that highlights both James’ refined ear and wide-ranging influences.
Angela will embark on a short tour October 23-26 and will be sharing a bill with Desperate Pilot & Shane Parish at the Mothlight in West Asheville on Sunday, Oct 26 at 8:00 p.m.
