Wine Added to July’s Brews and Bears Fundraiser at the WNC Nature Center

Wine-lovers are invited to the WNC Nature Center’s third Brews and Bears event of the summer on Friday, July 12, from 5:30-8:00PM. The after-hours event allows friends, families, and colleagues to enjoy the Nature Center in the evening, when animals are more active in their habitats.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 5K RACE HOSTED BY ASHEVILLE OUTLETS

Asheville Outlets (ShopAshevilleOutlets.com) will host the Independence Day 5K on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. Participants can choose from the timed 5K run/walk or the 1 mile unlimited walk. Registration pricing, day of or in advance is $30 for adults for the 5K Race and $15 for the 1 mile walk. Special senior and youth pricing available. $5 from every registration will go towards either the Wounded Warrior Project or Veteran for Peace. LOCAL NONPROFIT THE POP PROJECT REACHES $250,000 GIVING MILESTONE

50,000 strong, but there is still much work to do. Asheville nonprofit, the POP Project, turns 10 years old and is celebrating by hitting a few milestones this year. The first happened on May 12, when POP reached 50,000 lifetime books delivered. That total amounts to nearly a quarter million dollars worth of books distributed to places with needs throughout our community and state, all at no cost to the recipients.
